GermanMafia
I'm going to document my iDeneb install on my Lenovo T400. Got the DVD, burned at x4. Booted up fine, live DVD ran. On the "pick an install location" it was blank. Go to Disk Utility, and the unallocated space that I just set in Vista was missing. I don't think it's possible to see it in iDeneb, so I had to delete another one of my partitions to get a usable space. Install went fine, but I missed the "customize" option twice That was annoying as there's no way to cancel. When I finally hit customize, the 'about a minute left' was there for about twenty minutes. Then it booted up, I tried to install my ethernet kext with the included utilities, but I accidently took the kext as a folder, instead of a kext so nothing would install it. http://techresearchinfo.blogspot.com/ That's the driver I have, other reports have said that it works. iDeneb also destroyed my Vista bootloader. I tried to modify it with EasyBCD in Vista, but it was locked. So I rebooted with my Vista DVD and entered the Recovery Environment. It also wouldn't repair. Command line wouldn't repair it either. So now, my computer won't boot. Luckily, right before I installed iDeneb I got the Hiren Boot CD, so i just popped that in and used the MBR Utilities to get into my computer, and when I booted up Vista EasyBCD was working. Vista bootloader was repaired, but it won't let me boot into Mac, as it automatically selects the C:\ drive. Anyone have a better bootloader that will work with OSx86, Vista, and 7? Resolution automatically set to 1024x768, doesn't look that weird on my widescreen. GermanMafia
Okay! Got the net working using the kext I linked to earlier (I found that from someone else on the site, sorry for not giving credit where it's due). Now I'm on the hunt for a widescreen kext, haven't been able to find one yet. But, as I'm on Mac at the moment, the kext is working. I setup a 1 gig partition on my harddrive to share between mac and windows. Working well so far. I tried to use EasyBCD, but it didn't want to boot mac osx (would just go over to windows). I tried the chain0 method, it worked but I have to jump through EasyBCD's bootloader, and then Darwin's. Darwin is currently set to boot windows, so I could potentially just remove EasyBCD and windows Vista's bootloader, but we'll see what happens, I shouldn't be rebooting too often, and it's not that much of a problem, but simplification is always nice. It's a little annoying that the middle thinkpad button isn't working (the scroller) that's what I always use so it's a little weird when it doesn't do anything. I'm on the search for----- Widescreen Kext (I know there's no driver for my ATI mobility 3470 or my Intel x4500) Amazing how I have not one, but two GPUs that aren't supported. Audio Driver- I think I know which one I need, but I need to find my disc now. My audio buttons bring up the audio screen OSD, but they don't display anything. Maybe a power management kext? My battery that can potentially get 10 hours in Windows is only getting 2 at the moment, and that's with better battery life selected. cocob
Have T400. Mine too has intel 4500 gma..Is it possible to use pci express graphics card or something to get the graphics working. I googled but seriously nothing comes up... Also for workaround, I tried all methods (graphics mode...) but still could not reach 1280 *800. Anyone got in t400? lall
I have t500 running iDeneb 1.5.1 fine. Almost. At the top: Using Intel graphics: Installed Chameleon v1 bootloader, otherwise it won't boot after install AT ALL! Then selected Ethernet 82566 driver, ICHx patch, PS2 OLD fix for trackpoint, SD fix, VoodooBattery fix also. After install forced screen reso to 1680x1050x32 at com.apple.boot.plist, cause i couldn't find any kext file that won't brake the picture totally. Next, audio. Found some working kexts, search for Hing Definition Audio driver, i used v2, cause v3 didn't seem to work. Also Fixed permissions with OSx86 Tool. No problems except Wireless. Seems that hopeless. Bluetooth works fine. How to fix Windows 7 bootloader: I used Windows 7 Recovery Disk. The automatic way won't work! Go to command prompt. Enter "Diskpart" Then enter "List disk" Select your Windows 7 "system reserved disk" - if you had Win7 installed BEFORE OSx, it should be Disk 0! Enter "Select disk 0" Enter "List partition" Enter "Select partition 1" - IF you selected disk 0! Enter "Active" You'll get "partition has been marked active" Enter "Exit" Then fix your MBR and BOOTLOADER: Enter "bootrec /fixmbr" Enter "bootrec /fixboot" Then exit and reboot. Hope that helps, Martin Have T400. Mine too has intel 4500 gma..Is it possible to use pci express graphics card or something to get the graphics working. I googled but seriously nothing comes up... lall
forcing screen resolution worked for you?? walk me through how you did it Hi, open up terminal enter sudo then enter "nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" then you'll have to enter those two lines at the end of the file: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1680x1050x32</string> hit ctrl+x to save. jinp6301
I've tried the manual editing of the boot.plist to try to get 1440x900 and instead got 1154x756(?). jinp6301
It seems that I might have screwed around with the integrated card kexts too much since its giving me a garbled screen when I set the graphics card to integrated. This is all I could recall. I'm using Win7 for some time now. Try using kextloader to replace kexts or just do a clean install and change resolution without toutching the kexts at all. jinp6301
Reloaded all the kexts and still can't get it to work. I'm thinking of doing a fresh install and pray that it doesnt kill by bootloader requiring me to reinstall win 7. BTW, are we all still using ideneb 10.5.6? 10.5.7/8/9(?) are only done by upgrades right? And I shouldnt use the lite versions since they dont have all the kexts/patches? Again, I know these are noob questions, sorry Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147112-lenovo-t400-ideneb-not-a-help-thread-at-the-moment/#findComment-1329077 Share on other sites
bldyxz
Try setting reso to 1680x1050. That's one reso that will fit. I know that the size you are trying to get isn't working. I had same problem. Interesting. I have been battling with this for a couple of weeks, and just finding this post, I tried exactly the resolution you state (1680x1050x32) and got 1152x864 instead of 1024x768. Same Lenovo T400 with ATI 3400 video. Hm. This is better, but not the 1440x900 I had been using on the same screen in XP. I tried those values in the .plist, too (instead of 1680x1050), but still didn't get a resolution different from 1152x864. Also, my goal includes using the VGA port to plug in an external, 24" monitor at 1920x1200. I am wondering if anyone has any luck with that so far, at all. [i feel like I've tried half a dozen things, including a couple of kexts I thought might be related: - ATY_init.kext by Netkas - Natit.kext, described as GMA950 laptop (Those did not do anything noticeable)] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147112-lenovo-t400-ideneb-not-a-help-thread-at-the-moment/#findComment-1500497 Share on other sites
