I installed some kexts and the volume icon shows up on the bar and in my system settings, but the sound isnt actually working.

Could someone please link me to some kexts that will work for sure? I am using Kext helper b7

my computer:

ip35 pro

q6700

8800 gts 512

4gb ram

EDIT: I got it working, but only partially. For some reason I only have sound through one channel (the left headphone. yes, ive tried two different pairs)

Hate to suggest the obvious, but have you verified that the port is working properly in windows? If it's a homebuilt system and you are using a front audio port, check to ensure you plugged your front audio header connection into the right pins on the motherboard...

I'm actually having a similar problem, where ONLY my front headphone port (the one I plugged into the motherboard) is working, and I can't get audio from the back port (but it worked when I first OS X, and still works in Vista).

In Windows it works fine and it it plugged in the back

My problem was solved by choosing "internal speaker" as the output in the sound preferences panel (System Preferences).

Any chance that the balance control is not set to center (I assume you've checked this)? Also check with the Audio MIDI Setup program in /Applications/Utilities/ and run the speaker check.

Still no luck, I'm having the same problem....help please!!

Not sure where you are hitting a wall with ALC888, but I have the same, and I used the default drivers in iPC, and I get sound from all my speakers.

Yeah, this confuses me too, I've never heard of a problem like this before. With other versions it worked fine but for some reason with iAtkos I am running into this issue.

Are there any other versions of OSx86 that will allow me to update the OS through Software Update? This was the reason I chose iAtkos over the other versions

I can recommend iPC, if you haven't tried it already. There are multiple versions of the ALC888 Kext on the DVD, so if one doesn't work (the latest) you can try the others. Also no issues here updating directly from Software Update. YMMV of course.

I have tried every version of ALC888 i can find, off iPC, off this blog, google and nothing will give me stereo out of the green port on my sound card. My headphone port on the front works great, both speakers, but not the green port on the back.

I am using a Shuttle SG45h7, onboard sound: Realtek ALC888 (7.1) 8 channels. ICH10

I have installed no less than 30 different things to get this to work and nothing helps. OSx86tools doesnt detect my sound card. It does however work in windows, so I know the hardware is good.

Any ideas?

Did you ever get this working? I am having the same problem, except not on my headphone port, but on the green port on the back.
