Hey all. Just interested. By using the Cider package to port games, how much performance is actually lost? Is it just a tiny amount, or quite a bit? I've personally been able to play RA3 on Cider with all the settings maxed out with no lag. and if it's a game running on DirectX, how does it actually do this? Does it install a "DirectX driver" kind of thing? Or does it use Mac OS X's built in OpenGL to emulate DirectX? Thanks.

Ok there isnt really much performance issue depending on the game and if it works properrly and also it all does it through frameworks ontop of windows dll files and that includes the dx frameworks.... saying opengl will emulate dx ... umm that will never happen that be like a BMW emulating an old beat up 4 banger.... why would you want it to

It's using a wrapper, i.e. translates all Direct3D instructions into OpenGL in real time... So theorically it shouldn't really affect the performances, but it does because Apple OpenGL is crappy and Cider eats lots of CPU power to do this.
