razvu
Hi! I have 2 hdd, one with 10.5.2 and the other recently updated to 10.5.6. MB is Gigabyte ga-p35-ds4, xfx 8800 gtx with 768 mb. The video card works great with 10.5.2 and NVinject. HOwever, in 10.5.6, although it is recognized properly, it doesn't have QE enabled. I ran OpenGL extension viewer and I get 2000+ FPS in 10.5.2 and only about 20 FPS in 10.5.6. Apparently in 10.5.2 the renderer is NVidia, while in 10.5.6 is Apple software renderer. Is there a driver for this card to make it work properly? Thanks! razvu
I tried, the card is recognized, I guess the strings only tell the OS about the card type, etc, but in order to get a better result I need a driver? Am I missing something here??? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146459-1056-and-xfx-8800-gtx-768-mb/#findComment-1038832 Share on other sites

razvu
what is kext cache exactly? I saw some caches there, but I didn't know which one to delete. So, without deleting any cache, I rebooted, it used just the default resolution, I tried to update, there is no graphic update for 10.5.6 available, I installed NVDarwin, the card is recognized, but it's written "core image - software", comparing to 10.5.2 where it is "hardware accelerated". Also, I can't use other resolution than 1024x768... You can just boot up with -f at darwin prompt instead of deleting files The graphics update is included in 10.5.6 comboupdate As a very last resort if nothing else works you could extract all the nvidia and geforce kexts from 10.5.5 with pacifist and replace them. another alternative is to go down the dsdt route info here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=142434 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146459-1056-and-xfx-8800-gtx-768-mb/#findComment-1039114 Share on other sites
