Am using startup disk control panel in XP to select the OSX volume for next restart. However, the tosh will always boot back into XP. I have to enter the boot manager during startup, <Option>-key, and choose manually the OSX volume. Afterwards it works fine again.

First time, I thought it had been caused by renaming the XP volume from the original "NO NAME", it is lame isn't it? But after deleting the install using boot camp and creating a new one the problem is still the same.

System: iMac 17", Firmeware update, Boot Camp, OSX 10.4.6, external Oxford Chip FW drive & Lacie DVD burner in chain..

Writing this am asking myself if the boot manager gets a bit confused by the presence of the external drives. Since, what I also have seen ones is that after selecting the OSX from the boot manager, the "no OS" folder icon flicked on the screen for a split sec.

Anyone experiencing similar issues?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Err, just wished you would have read my post thouroughly. My problem is not to figure out how to boot into OSX. I mentioned this part. Rather that the start-up-disk control panel under XP, installed by the Mac Driver disk, doesn't seem to set the boot flag to the right partition.

In a nutshell; when I select the OSX volume, in the XP panel, and issue restart, I will end up booting XP again.

I hadn't used it to be honest, but it doesn't work for me.

Personally I just find it easier to hit restart and hold down Option, it just seems quite a bit of faff to open control panel, open the startup disk panel, change the setting etc - and that's if you remember!
