Franzy
I had been able to install Vista before. aka: it is pirated, so its not on a dvd (no boot from dvd). I had uninstalled vista because there was no crack. I hear theres a crack but I cannot find one. Anyway - I get an error message when i start the install (the .iso is mounted in daemon tools) setup has detected that there is not enough free space on any partition for setup to put the temporary files. Error code is [0x80070001]. Approximately [431 mb] of free space is required for setup to continue. Problem occurs w/ both my inspiron 5150 and dimension 2400, even though there is ample amount of free space on both partition and c:\ drive. this is really pissing me off because install had worked on the inspiron 5150 w/ no problems. Someone please help!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14481-windows-vista-5308-install-problem/ Share on other sites

Franzy
found the problem. Doesn't seem to want to install when Mac os x is on another partition. W/e - i deleted my mac partition, installed Windows Vista - working perfectly (or as good as a crappy dimension 2400 w/ 256 mb RAM can perform) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14481-windows-vista-5308-install-problem/#findComment-94928 Share on other sites
Darth Circuit
It might not be a problem that OSX was installed. When i tried it on my with beta 1, it didnt like my xp install on my scsi drives. i unplugged them and it worked fine. sorry for not stating this earlier, but i didnt think about it until you posted yesterday. Franzy
Darth Circuit: You have a point. It may not necessarily be that its a problem with Mac OS X on the partition. I think it has something to do with the partition tables - perhaps the current build is only compatible with one partition. This might have something to do with the new type of bios incorporated in the new windows. I don't know for sure. Someone should try 1) Installing Windows Vista Beta 2 (w/e build - try to make it 5308 so we know for sure) on a third partition with windows xp and mac os x already installed. Run the install through XP. 2) Install Windows Vista Beta 2 on an Intel Mac running only Mac os x (no dual booting). If someone has either system, please try it out - see if it runs and installs and report back to this forum. Thanks. Darth Circuit
i have not exactly tried senario #1, but i did something similar. i left the system as is, and in installed 5342 on a 3rd partion. i booted off the disk though. it worked great. i must clearify something though, if in confused you in my previous post, i will state that i connected the drives back up after the install completed. it worked fine after that. it was just in the install. EDIT: i forgot to mention that the system i tried senerio #1 on also had win 2000, and xp on it.
