-jordn-
hey, i have downloaded and burned the 10.4.5 installer DVD, and i boot using the -v flag. in the verbose, i get a disk I/O error. however, the DVD still loads but i can't partition or install, so i am sure that the i/o error is the root of the problem. i have 2 hard disks, an 80gb which is jumpered as master, and a 120gb disk which is a slave, and they are both IDE. i am using an MSI K8N Neo4-F (mobo web link) i have an AMD 3200+ (venice), and an xfx 6800XT. please tell me if you require an more information. thanx in advance, jordn Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14479-disk-i0-error/ Share on other sites

Try to burn this this in minimum speed this error is often related to huge amount of burning errors. There are always some errors and they increase with recorded speed. You films and mp3 don't see difference but Linux/Unix system have problems You can check how codiction have your disc in Window with Nero tools Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14479-disk-i0-error/#findComment-92530 Share on other sites

Try change some setting in bios . I have something like Enchenced mode and compatibility mode for IDE. Search for some setting like prefeth or burstmaster and turn it off Search on HLC part for clues on IDE this one thread I find http://forum.osx86project.org/lofiversion/....php/t3851.html I think that on this forum someone already figured out solution for this problem. This looks that Install dvd don't have approbate kext for you maybe you will have to path 10.4.4 dvd manually with your kext Use search put keyword like nForce4 and MSI K8N Neo4-F or nFroce IDE or SATA My knowledge is finish now. Mebster
I had a major I/O error. Or that’s what someone else called it. Was told to change the DVD drive. When I did so it worked perfectly. But I had a spare DVD drive sitting next to my computer so that was easy. If you have one, try the same or borrow one for a while and if it works swap back. Hope this helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14479-disk-i0-error/#findComment-92838 Share on other sites
