JB Fortner
Looking at everything I can find in these forums I have managed to install my GeForce 9800 GT using EFI and it is correctly recognized and I can use all display resolutions. The one thing I cannot get to work is Quartz Extreme. Under System profiler it says Unsupported. Is there an extra step I am missing to get it to work, or is it simply not supported? Here is my bootlist in case that helps at all. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>custom</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>f30300000100000001000000e70300001500000002010c00d041030a0000000 00101060000020101060000007fff040014000000400032002c006e0061006d006500000011000 00073656e736f722d706172656e74220000005600520041004d002c0074006f00740061006c0073 0069007a0065000000080000000000002036000000400032002c00680077006300740072006c002 d0070006100720061006d0073002d00760065007200730069006f006e00000008000000000000021 0000006400650076006900630065005f0074007900700065000000100000004e5644412c4765466f 63650e0000006e0061006d00650000000f0000004e5644412c506172656e7422000000400030002c 0 400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c617922000000400 31 02c006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b000000646973706c617912000 004 0032002c007200650067000000080000000000000222000000400032002c00640065007600690063 065 05f0074007900700065000000120000004e5644412c6770752d64696f646520000000400032002c0 630 6f006d00700061007400690062006c0065000000160000004e5644412c73656e736f722d70617265 e7422 00000400032002c002300730069007a0065002d00630065006c006c0073000000080000000000000 20000 00400031002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e0000004e5644412c4e56 d6163 4000000400030002c006e0061006d0065000000120000004e5644412c446973706c61792d413a000 004000 2002c0068007700730065006e0073006f0072002d0070006100720061006d0073002d00760065007 007300 9006f006e000000080000000000000226000000400032002c0023006100640072006500730073002 0063006 006c006c0073000000080000000000000114000000400031002c006e0061006d0065000000120000 04e56444 2c446973706c61792d421e00000072006f006d002d007200650076006900730069006f006e000000 9000000 33137326120000000400030002c0063006f006d00700061007400690062006c00650000000e00000 4e564441 c4e564d6163320000004e005600490044004900410020004700650046006f0072006300650020003 00380030 0300020004700540000001e0000004e5649444941204765466f72636520393830302047542044444 1000000 4e00560043004100500000001800000004000000000003000c00000000000007000000000e000000 e005600 0004d0000002000000001000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000</string> </dict> </plist> Thanks for your help in advance! homestarr
This one's easy, I hope! Download osx86tools from http://code.google.com/p/osx86tools/ I don't have it right now on my Snow Leopard install so I can't remember where the option is exactly, but you should find a button that says 'enable quartz extreme' or 'enable opengl' - both mean the same thing. Reboot and you should have QE!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144500-enabling-qe-on-9800-gt/#findComment-1253078 Share on other sites
flakmonkey
Just got my PNY 9600GT working tonight, using the 9000 series drivers. OSX86 tools turned on OpenGL but wouldn't get QE working, but by following Aquamac's guide http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?act...&thread=509 I finally got QE turned on in about five minutes flat. kraml
Now I just have a blue screen without the cursor after the apple screen with the round loading ring. Help ? Desktop only appears with booting -x (safe mode) I have a 9600 GT with DVI and HDMI outputs, and I have similar problem before. I managed to find out that if you get a blue screen without the cursor, it simply means you have the screen output to the other head instead of the current one you connected to. For me I use the DVI port to a LCD monitor but for some reason the card alwasy use HDMI port as primary display after boot up, even though I didn't connect anything to the HDMI port. I didn't find a thorough fix yet but the workaround is quite easy, just turn the monitor off for several seconds and turn it on again, it seems will trigger the driver to re-detect the port and will switch back to use the DVI port as output. Hope this will help your 9800, you can even verify it by connect to the other display port on your card to see if it has anything on it. Huh, after two days of installing the drivers and repairing permissions and deleting files in a million different methods I just connected the display to the other port and it works ! But still no QE, OpenGL is supported tho. Thank you!
