WaxTrax!
I have an Alesis MultiMix 8 USB mixer that acts as a basic 2-channel USB soundcard when plugged in. If I plug it in after OSX loads, it won't recognize it, but if I boot with it plugged in, it works. The problem, though, is that it will work just fine for a few minutes, then it will randomly stop. It will still appear to be normal in OSX, and you can play sounds, but there is no sound output until the computer is rebooted. Any ideas on this? WaxTrax!
Is this happening to anyone else using a USB soundcard? The way that I can make it stop working the fastest is if I go into GarageBand and load a song, then press play and stop and play again a few times. Then the sound quits working completely for all applications. AldousHxlE
Interesting problem you got there. Just to confirm, I'm using the Creative Labs Soundblaster 24-bit USB soundboard, and I never get that problem. Sorry I couldn't be of any help to you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14446-usb-sound-problems/#findComment-93207 Share on other sites
WaxTrax!
An update to this: I just got a new 20" Intel iMac, and using the same Alesis USB mixer, it now works properly, no problems whatsoever. This makes me wonder if it had something to do with the VIA chipset in the motherboard I was using. Well, whatever it was, I don't have to deal with it anymore! Georgiles
I have the same problem with my Alesis 8 Mix USB. + more I record fine and all of the sudden it start recording with an annoing hum, I also have on board AC97 sound and I discovered that if I go in garadge band preferences and change the driver to AC97 and then back to USB records fine for a while and then again the hum. So I have to change back and fore. But the worst is that the sound stops completely after few play and stops in Garadge Band and won't work untill an OS restart. The exact error is : "GaradgeBand has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or AUDIO DRIVERS. Be sure to install the latest drivers for all audio andd MIDI equipment conected to your computer. For instructions on removing older drivers consult the manufaturers documentation. I have no MIDI by the way. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14446-usb-sound-problems/#findComment-129701 Share on other sites
