PainCorp
i used the boot-132 method to install leopard on a hackintosh i built today after work. i get it installed and the kext files loaded fine, but after i install chameleon and try and reboot i get a kernel panic screen. im pretty sure its because of chameleon because if i use the boot-132 cd and boot that way i get into os x just fine. anyone have any advice on how to get it to let me boot? edit: system specs Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz (bios reads it at 1.86 for some reason but osx reads it at 2.4) GIGABYTE GA-EG31M-S2 A-DATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3750640AS 750GB LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner XFX PVT84JYAJG GeForce 8600 GT 512MB Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/143622-chameleon-causing-kernel-panic/ Share on other sites
Ianxxx
Might be an idea to post some information about your system. The more specific you are and more details you include the more likely you are to get help. McPhil
I just thought i would throw in a little info i have found. I can successfully install 10.5.5 with Iaktos 5i, but if i try to boot the dvd with ANY remains of chameleon, i get a kernal panic right as the dvd starts... in order to stop this, i have to completly format and install 10.5.1 with iaktos 1i for the 6i dvd to boot... Edit: idk if specs will help but oh well Dell Vostro 1400 Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz Proc 4GB 800mhz DDR2 Kingston Ram Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS 250 GB SATA Toshiba MK2546GSX (attached ACSI as a option in bios) 16x Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-5560A Sigmatel 9228 (not working as of yet) Edit Again: what does it tell you if you boot with the -v flag? PainCorp
all that im able to catch when i boot -v (i can only do it from the cd) is something about some network component failing to load, but then it continues right into os x just fine. i am unable to do -v without the cd inserted though so i can't tell you anything beyond that edit: added a video card i forgot about...im using integrated graphics right now, since the card isnt providing any output (pretty sure its DOA) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/143622-chameleon-causing-kernel-panic/#findComment-1020751 Share on other sites
PainCorp
well i got it into os x every boot now, but the downside is i have to keep a ps/2 keyboard plugged in in order to tell the computer which hard drive to boot to...is there a way to have it just auto boot the only drive? I too used the boot 132 method to install leopard, upgraded to 10.5.8, installed kexts and added EFI strings after the fact then installed Chameleon to boot OSX. Every time i get kernel panic and have no idea how to work around it. I have looked through the forums to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated!
