Hi there,

I have some questions about installing os x on x86 machines.

I bourght me a new notebook (Samsung X60 with sata drive, intel core duo prozessor, bluetooth, wifi a/b/g, V.92 modem, gb lan, ati x1600 and a 15,4" wsxga+ glare tft with resolution of 1.680 x 1.050 pixel) and want to put mac os x tiger on it.

But I am a complete newbee in mac os x and all these hints here are a little bit confusing.

What I want to have: A bootable DVD with integrated 10.4.5 update and all aviable os updates (I think it should work with my hardware), if possible also 10.4.6 update (because its the newest one :D ). If the os is then in german it will be fine.

So what have I to do and what will I need to get it working?

In "windows world" you can make a unattended setup to integrate all updates. How is it solved with osx?

Edit:

Ok, I think first of all I need the recover DVD (version 10.4.4) bourght with all new Intel Macs. right?

Than I have to use a patch from maxxuss (?) to disable the tpm instructions? Where can I find the patch? Sems that its hard to get one.

And while I am patching I can also insert the SSE3to2 and AMD patch (even if I don't need them because I have a Intel Centrino Duo with SSE3)?

Now I can download the 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 patch for Intel from Apple. But how to integrate it in the install dvd?

What's about Security Update 2006-001 and -002? Download it both or just the 002 (because 001 is here integrated?)?

Do I need them when using the 10.4.6 update?

And how do I integrate them in the installation dvd?

Ok, at the moment I think, I have to get a osx 10.4.4 Intel recover dvd and the 10.4.6 DVD Patch from JaS.

Also I need a working osx version installed (maybe a vmware one) to compile the patch into the restore dvd. After that I receive a fully working osx 10.4.6 installation dvd (for Intel with SSE3).

That's the minimal "wanna have". ;)

Nice would be a dvd where I can select during installation process if I want to install 10.4.5 update, security update 2006-001, -002 or 10.4.6 update. And If I also want to install any other patch out there (SSE3to2, AMD enabler, ...).

You are right, it is darn hard figuring out where to start by browsing these forums. And it's not covered well in the wiki. Those "in the know" get it figured out, then seem to move on with not much sympathy for newcomers.

It is simply daunting.

Currently, the only way to easily get what you'd like - a current version of OS X that will install on a generic Intel platform - is to find a DVD that someone has already modded. And lucky for many, that can be gotten.

It is sure to bring DCMA notices to this forum if direct links are posted, so none of us can do that.

However, Google is your friend - you can easily use www.google.com, and find the torrent on your own.

For the most current DVD to begin your journey, type "10.4.4 myzar torrent" (minus the quotes) into google's search field, and you will immediately see results for the available torrent.

That will get you the DVD.

Once you learn to find your way around torrent sites, you can quickly close in on Mac specific files. You will be able to find the latest updates to this DVD in that way.

I apologize for others who find it easier to post a "search for it" reply, rather than use the same energy to help someone, AND teach them HOW to search the forum & wiki.

Quite frankly, I found your request to be well thought out, and that you clearly HAD done much much searching before you posted your questions.

Good luck!

I wrote this for someone else but anyone can use it.

Firstly search for "Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD" in Pirate Bay and download it. The exact name is "Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD".

Its a 4.35GB iso file so it's gona take a while.

I got the info to download that here:

http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=10614

But basically you don't need to view the page as long as you can find the download.

Then I followed the following guide. I didn’t need to use Partition Magic as I already had unpartitioned space on my 250Gb drive. Most people don’t. So you need to know how to use Partition Magic. I never needed to so don’t still.

http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=13014

Shortened the quote a little below:

1. Have Partition Magic (version 8 prefered)

2. have space as much as you can I allocated 60GB to OS X 20GB for win XP and 500GB for XP as well but OS X reads (read only :( )NTFS just fine so 500GB is readable by both OS's

3.1st run partition magic and create (or resize) as much free space as you can after your windows partition and before any extended partition (thus creating 2 primary partitions) it is Crucial that the allocated non-formated space be AFTER the windows partition make sure the space is marked as Unallocated space

4. press apply and if required reboot to make the changes.

5. when done boot normally and click start then run type in "diskpart" (no quotes) press enter

6. type "list disk" press enter

7. type "select disk 0" press enter (if you are installing to same drive as windows)

8. type "list part" press enter you will notice you do not see the empty space you made in Partition magic

9. type "create partition primary id=af" then press enter

10. type "list part" press enter now you will see the the new partition OS X will be installed on.

11. type "exit" press enter

Burn the "MacOSX_10.4.4DVD patched 10.4.4.iso" with Nero choose burn image in nero from the recorder menu (I used Nero 7.0.1.4) (I tried Alcohol 120% but it said it wouldn't fit although Nero didn't care)

boot off the DVD..

once you get to the part where OS X asks where you want to install you must launch the Disk Utility to erase the partition you created earlier

once done OS X installs fine

not on the release i have it has an AMD enabler and booting failed if you didn't customize the install and uncheck the AMD enabler.

once installed enjoy. the Darwin Boot Loader defaults to OSX but if a key is pressed within 10 seconds it lets you boot to what ever drive Windows is on.

That’s it basically. I got into problems during the installation part. The DVD would load but the installation wouldn’t begin. And although we got a load of :graduated: here, it seem NO ONE IS WILLING TO HELP.

How i feel as time goes on :(<_<:gathering: :angry2:

Hope the info provided helps you though.

All the best. ;)
