Hello everyone,

I am completely confused with what I am supposed to check/uncheck in the "Customize" tab during the installation. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 that I am trying to install this on. It has an SSE2 processor (NOT SSE3).

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

iloveisrael.

Try booting with the -V and it will then run thru the process and hopefully stop on the error. Once it does wait for an additional 10-15 minutes and let us know the line it stops on or you can do a search for it. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas and God Bless :)

Hello JRDELUNAIII,

I did the "-v" boot. It gets to this line: "BSD root: disk1s3, major 14, minor 5", then stops for a couple of seconds, then goes on to this:

Jetiisoning kernel linker

can't add repository (not a directory).

root filesystem is read-only. skipping kernel link data generation

Launched version 5.0

Intel82557: Ethernet address 00:07:e9:27...

code signing: cs_invalid_page: p=41[configd] clearing CS_VALID

unable to mount /dev/disk0s1

Note: these are not all of the lines. These (atleast I think) are the important lines.

After the last line, "unable to mount /dev/disk0s1", it goes into the setup screen and it asks me what language to choose.

So what is wrong?

Thanks,

iloveisrael.

So from what you have told us here, that it looks like that OSX86 has installed successfully and that on the first boot it comes up to the screen where you are asked which language to use. Do you choose the language and then it stops giving you the error screen you posted. Is this correct ??

WITHOUT DVD: When I boot from the hard disk and select the "Leopard" partition, it loads and then shows this picture:

WITH DVD: When I boot from the DVD and I put "-v", it shows all of the line errors above and then it gets to the setup installation part (the first screen of the setup installation is the "select language" screen).

I'm sorry if I didn't clarify that in the previous posts.

Please try this, WITHOUT THE DVD, select your "Leopard" partition, and then put the -V and then hit ENTER. It will then stop on a certain line, wait for about 10-15 minutes to make sure it is done, then post the screen shot of the line or write it down and post it here so that people can TRY and determine what may be going on, or you can also use the search to help you. I hope this helps. God Bless :D

I followed your instructions and this is what I see:

Is there a solution?

I would say that about 75% of the people on this forum get the same error message that you are getting. If you do a search for that, you will get many pages of different solutions to try. You will have to try each and every one of them till it works for you. Remember installing this was never said to be easy, but is a PROJECT and may take someone days, weeks or even months to accomplish. Sometimes the hardware combination just will not work and people need to accept this.

For me I have also received that error message and depending on your hardware you may have to try different things to resolve it, here are some of the things I did to help ME resolve it with my hardware configuration.

1. Try booting with "-V CPUS=1" without the quotes.

2. Try going into your BIOS only if you are comfortable in making changes and play around with some of the settings especially for the hard drive.

3. Reinstall Leopard and this time choose some different configuration settings. I had to do this and I tried different combinations and also research it on this forum till it worked. It took me about 2 weeks on one of the laptops.

Again you are going to have to research, research, research, and try different settings, etc. Hope this helps. Keep us updated. God Bless :)

That happened to me on my friends laptop... Basically what I deduced from it is that it cant find the hard drive.. I finally found the right combo of fixes and drivers on the iDeneb install and it booted

Just play around

I believe this happens if you did not select the right chipset i could be totally wrong though lol
