well , after various unsucessful installations of iATKOS 5i , ive decided to revert back to an older Leo release ,

kalyway 10.5.2 to see if just maybe it will boot ,

what do you know ..

Kalyway 10.5.2 works , sound works , ethernet works but says cable unplugged in network preferences , even my external USB are recognized .. my P4 isnt recognized ,

shows " 3GHZ unknown"

and but sometimes , the screen goes gray and asks me to hold down the power button ..

my question is simple ,

what are the differences between the two releases ?

id like to extend my knowledge of the two to ultimately get iATKOS 5i working instead .

Thank you in advance .

the main difference is the version of the os (iatkos is 10.5.5)

but you could always update your kalyway install to 10.5.5 or 10.5.6

try installing a different smbios to get your processor recognized (just a cosmetic issue)

when the "the screen goes gray and asks me to hold down the power button"

that is a kernel panic

what are your specs?

since you have a pentium 4 it would be a pain

but try here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=109102

i think as long as your running a different kenel like voodoo you'll be fine

but dont update to 10.5.6 just yet

its not worth all of the time really

and 10.5.5 is what iatkos 5i is so it will still be fine
