dudz
I think they must!!! To expose on software & hardware compatibilities,,, Most commonly use software don’t fully support mac’s And become more competitive, or should I say the only one | for a home user… Wish they use open source utilities like openGL and so on, Basic problem is more expose on virus and pirate sites, Benefits, widely use and accepted for home users, more challenges and demands OSX will be is must for noob pc users that if they are willing to take those looses and risk!! Wuahaha
It would be a superbly smart move for Apple to make Mac OS X work on PC with full hardware support. It'll be a tough competition with Windows I'm definitely getting my hands on it too Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14247-are-you-ready-to-pay-for-an-official-release-of-mac-os-x-for-pc-made-by-apple/page/2/#findComment-91607 Share on other sites
compu-tor
You bet I would. I think OSX for generic boxes will be on the shelves as soon as they pry it out of Steve's cold, dead hands. And not a minute sooner. Think of the support nightmare they would create, with everyone running all kinds of whacked hardware combinations. The reason Windows has become such a pile of bloated {censored} is the MASSIVE amount of legacy hardware support they have to build into it. MS could build a killer Windows product by eliminating support for legacy hardware older than a few years, and driving the hardware market, and it's user base forward. Look at the UPROAR that was created when WindowsNT came to end of life. Jesus, it's a 13 year old OS! Apple has no problems leaving legacy hardware and apps in the past. Perhaps OSX that runs on a limited (and VERY limited) hardware set: 2-4 mobos (Apple Designed in California and built in China, of course) Intel only, ATI or nVidia, these wireless, this camera, supports any hardware that OWC or MacMall might sell..blah blah blah. rohde
I would love for them to do it. But with the release of Boot Camp I think it's safe to say that Apple Computer has shown us that it's the hardware that they are interested in pushing and not the software. muxion
I'll take a couple to start. If someone (hypothetically) would buy XP Pro from Newegg or where ever for $140, then $175-200 for OSX that works on specified or even +bundled hardware seems reasonable. I've been telling my Macish brother this since OSX came out, but buying Mac hardware doesn't work for me. I think it's the cause of the mindset of those Macaddicts who napalm anyone who differs with their Macattitudes. OPTiK
... and had full hardware support. Yes that would be nice but I'd buy hardware just for it if need be. I mean, I already did once!! declan
Just look at how easy it was for apple to move to efi and how even vista and the big manufactures need to stick to legacy devices, its because of apples tight hardware software integration that makes it work so well, so yes i would love to buy a copy but don't believe that day will ever come, thats why i am waiting to buy a macbook to replace my poor bust ibook.
