Sethiroth
Hello, I need to get to 10.5.5 without reformatting. I'm currently at 10.5.1 Kalyway. My specs are: Core2 E6750 Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L mother board Seagate 7,200 500gig HD 4 x 1ghz Kingston HyperX RAM 1066 SIIG IEEE1394 3-port PCI Card Model NN-440012 I use on board sound. All drives are SATA. I have done searches and can't find any real specific step by steps. I'm pretty new to all of this. boba899
Do you know of what Vanilla components you're running? It may be that you can just grab the 10.5.5 Combo Updater package from Apple; that lets you upgrade to 10.5.5 no matter what 10.5.* you're running. Whether you can do that easily depends on how vanilla your system is. Sethiroth
Let me ask this, can I do some sort of back up before hand, and if it screws everything up, can I restore? Konami®
Let me ask this, can I do some sort of back up before hand, and if it screws everything up, can I restore? You can use Time Machine, don't know it's working without issue in your machine. boba899
Time Machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper!. All do a similar job. I've used Time Machine and restored from it, that was fine but doesn't restore every single little preference. The other two exactly copy your partition, so you can restore it exactly how it was. Choice is yours Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141865-need-to-update-to-atleast-1055-help/#findComment-1006454 Share on other sites
Sethiroth
Ok, so I did the update per Mysticus's guide, re-patched the audio and everything works great.... ...except my stupid iTunes doesn't display the cover art! It just says "iTunes cannot display cover art on this computer" Anyone ever hear of this issue? Beerkex'd
Sounds like something that would happen if video acceleration is not working. Look under graphics in the system profiler and see if Core Image and Quartz Extreme are enabled. Sethiroth
Core Image says "Software" and Quartz Extreme says "Not Supported". I also noticed my "Time Machine" doesn't work the same. Its not all fancy like it was! Did my video driver not come over correctly you think? Beerkex'd
That's what it looks like. What video card do you have..it's missing from your specs in the first post for some reason. What were you using before? EFI strings or an injector? Download and run Aquamac's installer for the macbook graphics update for 10.5.5: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=132089 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141865-need-to-update-to-atleast-1055-help/#findComment-1012139 Share on other sites
