Hi Guys,

I was wondering what the appropriate PSU wattage would be for this hackintosh:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L Intel Mainboard

HD: Seagate Barracuda 750GB 7200RPM

DVD: Pioneer DVR-216 SATA DVD Re-Writer 20x

RAM: Corsair DDR2 4GB PC-6400/800

INTERNET: Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter

CASE: NZXT Lexa Blackline Case

I was thinking about getting either the APEVIA Java 500W Power Supply for $75 AUD or the Antec NeoPower 550W $121 AUD.

I'd prefer to get the cheaper 500W one...but will get another instead if I need it.

Do I need MORE than 550W?

Regards,

Dan

Really? I'm very sorry!

Yeah you should be in the hardware section I would say anyways back to your question 550w should do you and since I have never heard of Apevia go with Antec they make quality power supplies. They may cost more but you get good clean power from them which is after all the most important thing for longevity of your machine. Just for your reference I just put my Kill-A-Watt meter on my rig Q6600, four hard drives, 8800gt, 8GB of ram it was saying 221w being drawn from the plug in the wall.
