Hi guys Im a noob to OS X. How do I know which kernel(s) is(are) installed ? I first installed Leo Retail from DVD then updated to 10.5.5 without any problem.

So how do I get to know which kernels are installed on my system ?

Thanks :)

Waiting for reply.

Not positive on this, but no harm done by checking. Check the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder under OS X, that's where you install kexts.

Did you use Brazilmac? I have a question for you...look at my topic here

OK I typed uname -a and I got following results.

dss-p5q-pro:~ ds$ uname -a

Darwin dss-p5q-pro.local 9.5.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.5.0: Wed Sep 3 11:29:43 PDT 2008; root:xnu-1228.7.58~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

dss-p5q-pro:~ ds$

That means I have Darwin Kernel and XNU kernel ?

Thanks :)

Looks like you have Vanilla 9.5.0. What is the file size of /mach_kernel. If it is close to 10MB it is vanilla. If it is around half that then it could be a patched kernel. Voodoo and Toh generally show the tag in "uname -a".
