guiyoforward
Hi there I am still waiting for my mac mini delivery. I was disappointed to read on the apple site that the apple wireless keyboard and mouse would not work on xp on mactel. Is that true? I have read that some people with the "unofficial" XOM/EFI solution are able to use both apple bluetooth devices on XP. Could someone confirm this please? Many thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14134-apple-wireless-keyboard-mouse-in-xp/ Share on other sites

Still trying, will keep posted. Using USB mouse right now. kanecorp
I had a very frustrating experience with my bluetooth keybaord. It worked all the way through the xp install, and the xp setup after it was installed. it worked perfectly. i installed the drivers that apple provides..and then it stopped working! i then had the same problem the other guy had...it finds the keyboard but it wont work long story short i ended up buying a usb keyboard today until the bluetooth works Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14134-apple-wireless-keyboard-mouse-in-xp/#findComment-90003 Share on other sites

I was thinking about reinstalling and then maybe trying to avoid all of the bluetooth drivers. Might also just suck it up and get a USB keyboard. Yeah, i mean XP can detect and link with the keyboard, it just doesn't actually work. I'll deal with it later. No time for these kinds of annoyances right now. I want to get back to gaming. jmflorent
http://members.bettanet.net.au/~ben/bluetooth/ i've used this method for the applekeyboard on xp with my regular pc... this might work.. This is the closest to the method that actually does work. This is the step-by-step on how I got my wireless keyboard and mouse to work under XP: You will need to borrow a USB windows keyboard and mouse for the purpose of the initial installation. 1. Install Windows XP up to the point of installing the Macintosh driver package. 2. Plug in the USB mouse and Keyboard. 3. To make life easier, go to control panels -> system -> (tab) hardware -> (button) driver signing. Set this to allow unsigned drivers without prompting. 4. Install the driver package. 5. Reboot. 6. The drivers will come up and appear to mostly function. Apple bluetooth will appear but for some reason it isn't fully configured. Say no to going to the internet to find the driver yes to finding it automatically. On my system this caused it to load more apple bluetooth files than seemed to be installed by just the driver pack. The system will then say your new hardware is working. 7. Go to the bluetooth control panel. 8. Turn off both the bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Do the following once for the mouse and once for the keyboard. 9. Turn on the bluetooth device and then click the check box that says the device is on. Click next. 10. When prompted for the passkey, I selected to not use a passkey (I don't know what they would be and I didn't want to break anything in my OS X setup). 11. Wait for the new hardware found to finish up and that should be it. Once I completed these steps I cautiously removed the USB mouse and keyboard and performed a reboot. The bluetooth mouse and keyboard loaded but it took a moment (so don't expect to start clicking and typing the moment you see the desktop). I've now rebooted multiple times, changed the user setup, et cetera and things still work fine. This certainly beats my alternative strategy which was to buy a seperate windows bluetooth mouse and keyboard. kitch
OK, So after first installing the drivers I had no KB, but i did have a usb mouse plugged in, thats all you will need. -Install XP -Install Mac Drivers -Reboot -Finish installing all the drivers and stuff -Delete the keyobard out of BT settings -Turn off KB -Add new BT Device -Turn on KB -Click ready to discover -Done I think i kinda hacked around a bit more in there somewhere possibly and i experimented with disabling and enabling bluetooth quite a bit before this to no avail. Something remotely like this should get you running hopefully. Best of luck. Oh, haven't tried BT mouse. I hate that single clicker. rumz
Interesting. I installed XP on a MacBook Pro so I guess there was always a functioning keyboard hooked up. Had a similar experience-- bluetooth picked up my Logitech MX900 mouse during setup and it worked fine. But once I installed the Apple bluetooth drivers it stopped. It was a simple as going into the control panel, opening up bluetooth, and choosing the right option with regards to pass keys (don't remember which one made it work). Same with my Apple bluetooth keyboard. I tried one or 2 of the pairing passkey options until it worked (first option I tried said it worked but then the keyboard did nothing. Went back into bluetooth and the keyboard wasn't listed there. Paired it again using another option and it went that time. Again, sorry I don't remember what settings I used to get them to work but it wasn't difficult). It just took a minute for it to actually connect and become responsive. No fiddling necessary outside of that, but then I'm on a MacBook and not an iMac / Mac Mini.
