Mac Messenger Issue

Well, this might sound quite odd, but...

 

Been using Mac Messenger for some time until the damn app started to quit, showing this message;

 

"This system is unavailable now so you have been signed out of Microsoft Messenger."

 

The behaviour of the MSN service is the same whether using Adium, Messenger, Fire, aMsn, etc.

 

Has anyone experienced this?

well i had msn problems aswell using adium, but i created a new account and had no contacts, so it crashed after a few seconds. till today i dunno why, but after adding one of my friends no further problems did occur. also i dunno if its been an adium problem, cause i did not try any other messaging application.

 

perhaps that fits your problem?

Tried that already and it happened again.

 

I first thought that this might have been a bad router configuration, but I checked it all and it seems to be ok.

 

Really weird situation...

This happens sometimes on both Windows and OS X. The problem is the MSN network, not your configuration.

well what msn server are you trying to connect to? my adium says messenger.hotmail.com port 1863 (box for http login UNCHECKED) and its working fine here.

i had some issues with this messenger myself...

 

google aMSN, great program - skinable plus plugins.

 

I hope it helped kind of, for u or anyone else came up in this thread for the messenger !!

I was aware of that but only started to experience since yesterday.

While using Adium that's the default address/port I have and it still doesn't work.

 

To SpawNerGR

 

aMSN didn't work aswell.

 

The strange thing is that the router is configured properly (at least I think), and I keep having these annoying behaviour every five minutes.

 

Weird, really weird issue.

EDIT: Both Leopard and XP ain't working properly, so it might be a routing problem. Any ideas?

Yes it could be a routing problem. Connect your computer via ethernet and disable any active firewalls for testing. Also make sure that you router and PC have correct DNS settings.

-I downgraded the router's firmware , disabled both UPnP and firewall.

 

-Got both xp and leop are working without any firewall.

 

-Currently reviewing all the nat configs.

 

Thank you for the help guys, and I guess I'll get a new router because this one is a major pain in the ass.

FWIW, my computer has started behaving like this too.

 

Adium won't connect (sits there forever, times out, retries, times out...) and Microsoft Messenger says

I was reading on an Adium thread discussing libpurple (the library Adium and Pidgin use to connect to various IM services) that MSN Messenger had changed their authentication routines without telling anyone. Wouldn't this break all old versions of MSN, like the ancient ones you're forced to use if you're stuck on Windows 9x? Anyone around crazy enough to try?
