I installed "Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD" and so I’ve got 10.4.5 installed it works more or less (no sound and modem drivers wont install).

I don't know much about Macs. Actually, almost zilch :guitar: . But I assumed I would be getting iPhoto, iMovie HD and iDVD, which from what I understand is a part of iLife ’06 suite. Reason? As I’ve seen some stores who have it installed when they sell their Macs. The store in particular is John Lewis. They have those apps installed and are included when you buy the Mac. So it was weird when I looked in the applications part of OSX and couldn't find them. :construction:

The DVD I used wasn't a stripped down versions, was it? How could it be? It was 4.37GBs! :)

So do I use another OSX version or do something else.

Anyone care to shed some light on the matter?

Come on people. Lets kill this issue :guitar: .

Let’s hear what you have to say.

So you’re saying. The OSX is stripped because it normally on the dual layered DVD. And that iLife is around 6GBs.

But it sounds as though you mean they have nothing in common.

So how come there are Macs that can be purchased with iLife (in one package)? Is that an extra or a part of a larger (fuller) OSX installation CD?

ilife is 6gb, the OSX installs we downloaded have been stripped of it since with the Mac OSX it would be WAY to big to fit on a DVD (ilife can't even fit on a dvd).

Mac OSX official disks are dual layer which can hold more data (sometimes the comercial ones can go up to 9+gb) so they can fit ilife on as well.

On a side note, WHY on Mac OSX are the printer drivers 2.1gb.....REDICULOUS
