can X3100 use HDMI ?

Well actually it depends upon the manufacturer.Dell XPS M1330 has the Intel X3100 and HDMI out.

Well, I have my setup complete finally. The only things that dont work are my Ethernet, HDMI output, and my internal card reader. The main thing I want to get working in my HDMI, has anyone figured out yet how to get it working???

What is the make of your Ethernet and Card Reader(its Ricoh but output of lspci -vvv would be helpful) ?

lspci is a linux command. Would ioreg output anything useful?

yeah lspci is a linux command.I was wondering if you could use a live cd like that from ubuntu to get this info.

actually ioreg would not list the make.

you could use windows however to get the ids for the device,in that case you could use msinfo32.

lspci is in OSX86 Tools by ~pcwiz and works in OS X fine.

Cool, I didnt know that. Thanks for the info.

using lspci I get several models for Ricoh depending on the device type. Here is the list:

Ricoh R5C832 for firewire

R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPRO

R5C843 MMC Host Controller

R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter

There isn't a model for the xD card viever it just lists xD-Picture Card Controller.

Also, here is my ethernet controller:

Marvell 88E8040

I have the exact same laptop and the exact same issues. The HDMI not working is the one thing that is really bothering me. I can get the VGA out to work on external monitors but I need the HDMI to work.

If anyone knows how to get the HDMI output to work on the Inspiron 1525 it would be awesome.

Thanks.

I know this is quite an old post, but I just wanted to let you know that dailyblogged.com is a site dedicated to getting OS X working perfectly on the Inspiron 1525. Also, ethernet and the card reader both work great now.

I don't have the card reader working great. I've got the VoodooSDHC.kext loaded, and also IOSDHCBlockDevice.kext in 10.6.4, but I can't get either an older original MemoryStick, or a newer MemoryStick Pro to mount or recognize at all. I don't know anything about these kexts, but I've tried several versions, and only one version of the Voodoo loads. It seems that the IOSDHCBlockDevice.kext only loads when the VoodooSDHC.kext also loads.

I also don't have HDMI output function, but I haven't tried the fn-f8 keys to toggle it on in BIOS. Has anyone tried fn-f8? I know on my other hack, an MSI Wind the webcam toggles on-off on BIOS function key commands, so perhaps this will work on the Inspiron 1525 also?

As mentioned in my previous reply, check out http://dailyblogged.com. Specifically, check out this guide for the SD Card driver in 10.6.4. HDMI, however, does not work and never will work. I forget how Fn+F8 responds, though I know it doesn't work as it is supposed to.

I still can't get a MemoryStick or a MemoryStick Pro to read in the card reader. There are no errors in the loading of the kext, and all three of the Ricoh card reader ID's are shown correctly in ioreg. Everything seems "go" except for actually recognizing and mounting the cards. When I plug in a card, I see the blue HD LED on the front go active for a couple seconds, so "something" is happening, but I see nothing in the log files anywhere, and I've looked hard. I removed the IOSDHCIBlockStorageDevice.kext (which was loading) because it seemed to conflict with the VoodooSDHC.kext. The VoodooSDHC.kext shows dependencies on IOStorageFamily.kext, which could be the problem?
HDMI, however, does not work and never will work.
Never is a very long time. It's probably better to never say never. It may be incredibly unlikely it will ever work. What is the reason you believe it won't work? Since the new Mini has integrated HDMI it would seem that Snow Leopard does support HDMI, and I've seen that some other hacks have enabled HDMI.

Something bothering me is when I do kextstat in Terminal I'm having one kext skipped or invisible or something? Kextstat is showing 105 kexts loaded, but #104 isn't listed, it skips from 103 to 105, which seems strange. In System Profiler>Extensions only seven kexts are still shown as 32-bit: AppleGMAX3100, AppleGMAX3100FB, BSDKernel6.0, IOKit6.0, Libkern6.0, Mach6.0, System6.0. I've not seen any 64-bit X3100 kext, is there one?

The trackpad is still so problematic, and the only Preference Pane that works for me is the old 32-bit one that needs to restart System Preferences each time it's used. Right-click for the right Trackpad button seems intermittent, and sometimes there seems to be a freeze for a few moments. These are all very minor problems, but it would be nice to sort them out. I do have backlight brightness/dim control via the Fn-Up Arrow & Fn-Down Arrow, which is nice.
