bingeboyX86
Hello, Hi, I'm a first time hackintosh builder. I've been following the install instructions here since I have similar hardware: http://forum.insanelymac.com/l.../...php/t78325.html After going loading boot 132 I insert the 10.5 retail dvd and start loading the os. After about 10-15 secs of spinining on the grey Apple logo screen I get a ghost buster logo and install seems to stop. Any ideas for trouble shooting? sys specs: BLOOD IRO P35-T2RL P35 CPU INTEL|C2D E7300 2.66G GPU XFX 9800gt HD 1T|WD DVD BURN SAMSUNG|SH-S223F 22X ZALMAN|9700 LED RTL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137847-ghostbuster-icon-over-apple-logo-after-105-retail-boot/ Share on other sites
Gujal
Make sure AHCI is enabled under HD/Disk options, otherwise this could happen. Also try booting with -v which will give you information why it is failing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137847-ghostbuster-icon-over-apple-logo-after-105-retail-boot/#findComment-975734 Share on other sites
bingeboyX86
I went into my bios for my DFI Blood Iron and set the following: Integrated Peripherals > OnChip IDE Device > Sata Mode = AHCI Run AHCI ROM = Enabled x LEGACY Mode Support = Disabled Onboard JMB368 = Enabled I also noticed that my clock speed was set way off for my Core Duo 2.66 was set at 1.6. I hadn't changed any of the settings since I installed the board. Now when I try and boot 132 the system is unable to read the disc. Any advice for next steps? bingeboyX86
I received a reply on another forum that said the root of my issues could be related to the SATA DVD drive. I'm currently using a Samsung SATA DVD drive... Should I purchase a IDE DVD drive? Hagar
There is no way to tell what your issue is, as you have not followed the instructions you have been given, nor provided any information. boot -v find out where it stops. google and search this forum with the result. Chances are you're getting "still waiting for root device" ironically, it often helps to set the controller to IDE mode rather than AHCI during the install phase, well-meaning advice aside, and an IDE DVD drive is also unlikely to help. And PLEASE don't fill up our forum with endless speculation in the search for a shortcut. Take it step by step and you will get there in the end. bingeboyX86
Hey guys thanks for being patient with me I'm new to this stuff. I finally figured out why I was unable to get the -v or -v -f mode during the boot of the dvd. I wasn't hitting the f8 option after inserting the disc. Total noob mistake. Well anyway Hagar you were correct on both points. 1. I need to set the controller to IDE to read the boot 132 disc 2. I'm also receiving a waiting for root device. Here are the screens I'm getting hung on during load. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3246/305624..._829e275129.jpg This is with JMB368 enabled in bios http://www.flickr.com/photos/bingeboy/3056244197/ This is with JMB368 disabled Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/137847-ghostbuster-icon-over-apple-logo-after-105-retail-boot/#findComment-976595 Share on other sites
