I was wondering how do I update my leopard software to the version 10.5.5 that's avalaible in software update? The last time I tried to it, it grayed out my screen and told me I had to restart my comp, and then when I did it never booted back to my desktop, so I am just wondering how I go about this update?

my specs are

Compaq EVO D310

1.5 GB DDR 2 RAM

Nvidia GeForce 5500 FX

AC'97 Audio

Lite-On DVD/CD Burner

Pentium 4 @ 2 Ghz

Mac OS Leopard 10.5.4

Steven,

This is how I managed to get from 10.5.4 upto 10.5.5:

(1) Updated to 10.5.5 with Vanilla Kernal via the Apple Website

Apple Update 10.5.5

(1.1) Download the update

(1.2) Open Terminal

(1.3) type: sudo -s

(1.4) type: while sleep 1; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext; done

(1.5) run the update

(1.6) when request to restart DON'T, kill the terminal command (CTRL+C or CTRL+X) first

(1.7) then click restart as requested

(1.8) type: update -v

(1.9) reboot again

Hi,

What if I was to run an update with those instructions, but I had Pentium 4 processor and XNU kernel?

Would the update fck up my system?

Or could I update directly via apple's software update without any worries?
