SpeedfreaK
hey, i have a new aluminium macbook with 2 gig ram, 2.0 ghz, Geforce 9400 and 160 gig hd i have an extremely low xbench score! 57! and that's because my user interface test gives me only 15.73 points. i actually noticed that my laptop is much slower than my alu imac (2 gig ram, 2.4 ghz, 320 gig hd, ATI 2600 HD ) and my gui is not so responsive, especially when multiple (light) programs are running any suggestions? maybe a reinstall of leopard? Wrenbird
Is the sluggishness always present? Or does it occur after the macbook is on for a while? If it happens after you've been running the macbook for a while, you may be having an overheat issue. I've read about some heat issues with the aluminum macbook, and also about severe slowdowns after overheating on the new macbooks (All of them, including the Pro and Air). It's entirely possible that the macbook's speed is due to heat. Synaesthesia
I don't trust XBench. It's a load of {censored}, in my opinion, especially the disk test part, which usually throws the whole test off. In fact many people just disregard the disk tests. If you do that, your Macbook seems fine. For a good, CPU-only test, try Geekbench, or benchmark your favourite apps/games. SpeedfreaK
It's definitely not an overheating issue because the macbook stays very cold! (it's not like the firs macbook pro's ) but i hear the fans quite good... (better than when it was one day old) But i got very low GUI scores in the first 5 bench marks and the gui still feels a bit sluggish (like when you do expose, the windows move a bit laggy...
