anyone here ever try a GA-EP45-UD3R?

the store i ordered from just informed me that the EP45-DS3R i ordered on monday & was told was in stock is not available, he claims discontinued, and he's gonna "try" to see if any leftover in stock at their supplier... but they do have the EP45-UD3R in stock

this board seems to be very similar to the DS3R, same specs, ports, audio/lan/etc...

from what i've managed to gather, it seems like the difference is heat dissipation related changes to the motherboard PCB design, and some new quickboost feature that seems like a way to overclock from windows, which seems useless IMO

the DS3R claims to have "ultra durable 2" "technology" so ultra durable 3 seems like the next logical revision up.

but its so damn new, theres only one new bios revision since release, and like no mention of it with OSx86

i'm quite iffy really, i might just ask for a refund & order from elsewhere, rather than go for an untested board

Hey Logical.

GO FOR IT!!!!!!

It's the board I'm using! SIMPLY AWESOME! Everything works OOB with the exception of Audio which is a super simple fix. If you need help installing onto this board, feel free to ask.

i shall find out on monday if they have a EP45-DS3R for me or not. they have 20 or so of the EP45-UD3R in stock

if they do not have one for me, i'll likely go for the UD3R, it just seems so damn similar

kind of a {censored} off tho, i was told it was all in stock on monday, then on wednesday told the case was not in stock, but the rest was already shipped.... today i get my packages, open it up, and theres no motherboard... so i email and find out.... "oh, the motherboard is not in stock, its coming from the supplier"

thanks for the reassurance :(

Hi Shaj,

I am looking at purchasing this board but I cannot find any boot-132 iso for it. Were you able to use another boards boot-132 iso? Thanks.

Grub-DFE works great as a boot132 iso. I have one that i had not had the time to fix and make bootable, however I install with grub and then use the kext from the iso I made to finish the DFE install. The only thing missing at that point is the AHCI fix, which is the same as the DS3R.

Hey cackintosh. I just used the Generic boot132. It works fine for the installation. Then later on I installed Chameleon for HD and added a few others kexts in the Extra folder.

Hey nice!! Can you share with us the Kexts you used? I just am about to buy this board and I need to know what stuff you used. Do tyhe firewire ports also work for you?

How about Shutdown/Restart/Sleep/Wake? Speedstep works too?

Please let me know, thanks!!

Hi Everyone,

I have a EP45-UD3R as well. I was only able to get Kalyway 10.5.1 to work on it. Vanilla install of 10.5.3 gave me standard startup screen, but a few minutes later would freeze. When I use Boot 132 then retail, everything would go fine till the 1st welcome and install screen. At that point I get the screen with snow all over it. It seems to be working (clicking on screen causes the DVD to be read), but I can't see what I'm doing!

I would like to get it up to a newer version, because every once in a while, I have kernel panics.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Specs:

GA-EP45-UD3R (ver. 1.1)

Core Quad Q8300

ATI HD 2600XT

8GB RAM

ATA DVD ROM drive

ATA 60GB HDD

Finally figured out how to get everything working. I installed by installing everything using method on this link

Retail DVD guide

on a Macbook Pro via USB onto a HDD drive, then popping the drive into my EP45-UD3.

For HD2600XT video drivers I used drivers from iPC 10.5.6

For sound, the Taruga patch.

Everything is working smoothly!

Great to hear you got it working sunburn. I have a rig very similar to yours, GA-EP45-UD3R and a 2600xt, and am going to attempt to get this all working. However, I am going to see if I can try to get a boot132 install working, as I like the idea of being able to boot terminal/DU off of a CD if absolutely needed (the rig is for an uncle).

Hopefully I can get it setup easily via boot132 and prepare an easy to follow guide to get retail 10.5.x on this rig so that if everything goes terribly, my uncle can always reinstall via my guide and boot132, then copy everything else back via time machine migration in the setup assistant once it is installed.

I know this probably isn't the place to ask, but I have heard of the INSTAhackintosh method, and I was wondering, that method makes it so you just have one dvd that is bootable, correct? No need for boot132 swapping of disks? If that isn't too much of a hassle, once I figure out what kexts and changes are needed past retail, I may try creating that for my uncle, but who knows.

All I know is after I hackintoshed my MSI Wind, I got hooked! :)
