  1. I've been having problems with this network card occasionally and seemingly randomly causing a KP in 10.9 with a GA-H87N-Wifi. 2. As some others have mentioned, I'm using this driver, but my computer is unable to negotiate any form of connection. It detects cable connected, but will not perform DHCP negotation, or work with manual IP. Doing an nvram -c fixes it for the next boot, but the driver can fail even while booted. I am using a GA-H87N-Wifi with Clover bootload and 10.9 GM.

Editing custom personalities for ATI Radeon HD[45]xx

Man, this was not an easy processes! Finally got dual-display working with my Sapphire RadeonHD 5850 Xtreme 1GB card with Graphics Enabler = Yes such that DVDPlayer, steam games, VDADecoder etc works. The card has three outputs, DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI, and looks pretty much the same as a 5770 physically. I used information in this thread and in http://www.insanelym...pic=262223//url to try to make a working AtiPersonality for the card, and I've got pretty close, as close as I am going to try to get right now. I can get two displays working at a time, DisplayPort as well as either HDMI or DVI. When both HDMI and DVI are connected to a display, both displays detect properly, system preferences shows them as separate monitors and maps then correctly, but the MenuBar display widget changes from the monitor names to Display 1, Display 2, Display 3, and the most recently plugged in of either HDMI or DVI does not work. The default profile for the card was Uakari. This profile gave me a working DP monitor with blacked out second and third monitors. It also gave me a phantom inexistent VGA 800x600 monitor. I ended up creating a custom Eulemur personality (no idea if this was the right thing to do, but it was a 3 connector personality, and I saw they used it in the 5770 thread, so I decided to try it), which has given me the most success I have had. In order to get to my current state with the patch, I did the following. 1) Boot into windows, download GPU-Z, click the little 'Rom' button on the first tab to extract the ROM for the card. I then booted back into OSX used the radeon_bios_decode to extract information about the card. ATOM BIOS Rom: SubsystemVendorID: 0x174b SubsystemID: 0xe174 IOBaseAddress: 0x0000 Filename: 174P0306.S41 BIOS Bootup Message: CYPRESS PRO GDDR5 BIOS UCODEv:126 PCI ID: 1002:6899 Connector at index 0 Type [@offset 44342]: DisplayPort (10) Encoder [@offset 44346]: INTERNAL_UNIPHY2 (0x21) i2cid [@offset 44434]: 0x90, OSX senseid: 0x1 Connector at index 1 Type [@offset 44352]: HDMI-A (11) Encoder [@offset 44356]: INTERNAL_UNIPHY2 (0x21) i2cid [@offset 44461]: 0x93, OSX senseid: 0x4 Connector at index 2 Type [@offset 44362]: DVI-I (2) Encoder [@offset 44366]: INTERNAL_UNIPHY (0x1e) i2cid [@offset 44498]: 0x94, OSX senseid: 0x5 Connector at index 3 Type [@offset 44372]: DVI-I (2) Encoder [@offset 44376]: INTERNAL_KLDSCP_DAC1 (0x15) i2cid [@offset 44498]: 0x94, OSX senseid: 0x5 Here we can see that the DisplayPort is at senseid 1, the HDMI at 4, and the DVI at 5. I then ran the ati-personality perl script and cropped my results to just the ATI5000 kext. I then looked through the personalities for lines that began and ended with the following pairs: Begin : end 00 04 : 01 // DisplayPort connector on senseid 1 00 02 : 05 // DVI-I connector on senseid 5 00 08 : 04 // HDMI connector on senseid 4 It ended up they were all from Uakari, so it was effectively like I was just removing the second row from the Uakari profile and placing it in the Eulemur. I ended up with the following for my three connector Eulemur personality: 0000000: 0004 0000 0004 0000 0071 0000 1204 0401 // Displayport connector on senseid 1 from Uakari 0000010: 0002 0000 1400 0000 0071 0000 0000 0605 // DVI-I connecotr on senseID 5 from Uakari 0000020: 0008 0000 0002 0000 0071 0000 2205 0504 // HDMI on senseID 4 from Uakari It does not seem that HDMI-Audio is working, although it could be something else about my setup. I honestly don't really care about HDMI Audio, so if I ever get triple display working, regardless of HDMI audio, I will post an update. For those new, I used GraphicsEnabler=Yes, and AtiConfig=Eulemur in org.chameleon for my profile.

Different motherboards are... gasp... different! Try to find a thread for that motherboard or post a new thread.

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

I would just like to post that I have Digital In and Out working using SKX's audio codec. I have only tested Optical SPDIF, not coaxial, but both in and out worked. Optical in appeared under Sys Prefs as Line Out (under the input tab). Confusing, but it works! Love this motherboard - I am AMAZED at how well it works with mac os x.

Hmm, would you mind checking system profiler and system preferences for me? I don't have logic, so I can't see if it shows up there. Audio (Built In): Intel High Definition Audio: Device ID: 0x1458A002 Audio ID: 12 Available Devices: Speaker: Connection: 1/8 inch Jack Microphone: Connection: 1/8 inch Jack S/P-DIF Out: Connection: Internal Intel High Definition Audio: Device ID: 0x148CAA08 Audio ID: 12 Available Devices: That is from my system profiler. I have audio out working on Internal Headphones, and 3.5mm headphone and line in working - Don't have a particularly easy setup to test SPDIF with, although I assume it would work since it shows up. Sprefs shows: Output: Internal Speakers Headphones Line Out Digital Out Input: Internal microphone Line in Line out. Bracket I have installed Going to try reinstalling kext from your first post. I can also try installing XP and sound drivers in XP to see if it shows up there. Would love to get this working! Is there any bios configuration and/or do I actually have to have a cable connected for it to work?

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

I wonder if anyone else could try this kext http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...127611&st=0 for the JMicron. I know Eliade tried it, but I'm curious if it will cause a KP for all of us during boot. I will try it soon, and likley regret doing so, but its always worth a shot.

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Damn - I wanted to be able to use IDE drives. Not super fond of the idea of a IDE--> Sata converter. Are there any PCI IDE cards compatible (preferably natively) with a retail install? 2 IDE channels would be great on the PCI card, but 1 is fine). I tried looking in the HCL, and it did not say much.

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Hello skx! Thanks for this guide so far, it has been great! I have a very capable install on a GA-EP45-UD3R largely thanks to your experimentation! I have, coming in the mail, a Gigabyte Digital IN bracket that connects to the 3 pin header (Digital Optical and Coaxial in). It sounds like you have digital coaxial in working - does this show up in system preferences too? I do not have the cable yet, but from what I have read about AppleHDA, digital in is currently disabled, as well as two of the output jacks. How exactly did you get this to work? I haven't tried myself yet as I do not have the bracket yet, but I figured I would already be able to see it in the system preferences.

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Got the installer DVD to boot - reformatting my drive to GUID as we speak. Using Grub-DFE.iso and running with -x. slow as all hell to get the installer up, but we'll see if I can get anything working. edit: got it working - had to boot using -x for both the installer and the mac os x partition until I installed the Natit.kext and added the PCI ID to the ATIx2000.kext file. After that, a reboot booted straight into the OS! I'm sure this could be overcome by using a modified boot132 disk, but it really isn't a hassle, so no biggie.

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

I will try that when I get home - I would be VERY surprised if the DVD was the issue. I don't think that it was hanging anywhere - when I moved the mouse around stuff would change on screen. I do not know enough about the boot132 method, but I would guess it is a graphics card issue (but isn't the 2600xt one of the better gpu's for a hackintosh?). Do I have to make a custom boot132 disk with the graphics kexts or efi strings or something? Or if I can get into the installer at all (I can see the apple screen), would that mean I don't need to mess with teh disk?

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

I am using a burnt retail DVD. Had a CPU Drop in DVD of Leopard upgrade, and ISOed it and followed this guide (http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2007/12/12791/) to fix it to a standard leopard dvd (renaming the ISO, and deleting 1 file), and reburnt it to a DL-DVD. Worked perfectly to install on my MSI Wind via boot132. Could this be the problem? I can obtain an original leopard disk if absolutely needed. I have also tried booting off of the CPU Drop in DVD and got the same result (original DVD from apple). That DVD should boot afaik, but will not install as it does not recognize an existing version of Mac OS X.

    NEW INSTALL: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Hey guys, I am trying to install mac os x on this motherboard using the boot132 method (tried both a boot132 disk I had from a previous retail install, as well as the grud-dfe.iso), and it boots and the mac os x logo with the cog spins, but imidiately after that, I get s white screen with a ton of black squares and rectangles all over it. I am using a 'CPU Drop in DVD' that I imaged and renamed / removed the file that checks for previous versions of Mac OS X. This installer worked perfectly on my MSI wind. I am using the GA-EP45-UD3R and a PowerColor HD 2600xt. Set both settings to AHCI in the bios, and the SATA DVD drive and the SATA HDD are attached to the yellow SATA ports. I am using a q6600 and 8GB of memory. Would love to be able to get this thing working. Best Regards.

    GA-EP45-UD3R

Great to hear you got it working sunburn. I have a rig very similar to yours, GA-EP45-UD3R and a 2600xt, and am going to attempt to get this all working. However, I am going to see if I can try to get a boot132 install working, as I like the idea of being able to boot terminal/DU off of a CD if absolutely needed (the rig is for an uncle). Hopefully I can get it setup easily via boot132 and prepare an easy to follow guide to get retail 10.5.x on this rig so that if everything goes terribly, my uncle can always reinstall via my guide and boot132, then copy everything else back via time machine migration in the setup assistant once it is installed. I know this probably isn't the place to ask, but I have heard of the INSTAhackintosh method, and I was wondering, that method makes it so you just have one dvd that is bootable, correct? No need for boot132 swapping of disks? If that isn't too much of a hassle, once I figure out what kexts and changes are needed past retail, I may try creating that for my uncle, but who knows. All I know is after I hackintoshed my MSI Wind, I got hooked!
