dripple
I've searched the forums for days, but can't find any explanation or solution to my problem. PPC apps really slow, nearly unusable (near the same speed than running Mac OS X under VM-Ware) I use the 10.4.3. DTK with JaS 4.2 on a Celeron D 345 ( 3.06 GHZ and 1.5 GB Ram...) After all I _guess_ that the Patch for SSE3 is not working correct, or with other words: it seems to work on my machine, but hasn't to. CPU-Funktionen: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL TPR I've read the documentation of Maxxuss about his emulator which says it catches Illegal Opcodes which will be thrown on a non-SSE3-System and translates them on the fly to SSE2 code. So, in this fact, this error codes should be never thrown on my SSE3-system. But why in da hell are my PPC-Apps so slow? I relly want to use MS Office and Photoshop, but if I start Office and type something, it takes nearly half a second untill the character apear on the screen and the menu latency is about one second! The patch-solution comes with different "uninstaller" but there's no unpatcher for the SSE3 emulator. If I understand, I should only need the NX Patch? Any help would be welcome... dripple Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13600-rosettas-apps-sloooow/ Share on other sites

dripple
Ahmm... "Base Patch"? I think I'm getting to old for this ;-) My system seems to be patched allready... I have the mach.kernel orig... (from the "patches" folder of my preinstalled dvd)... so, which patches must i apply ... if I can get my hands on it. Sorry for this noob-questions... dripple
Hmm... I tried now Maxxuss Kernel Patch 2.0 and applied only "nonx". System starts, but I'm not able open any PPC app... Colonel
I have a celeron d and i accidently installed the SSE3 emulator patch and my computer runs at full speed. Try reinstalling the SSE3 patch or reinstall the OS without the SSE3 patch Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13600-rosettas-apps-sloooow/#findComment-86651 Share on other sites
declan
Can you reinstall, if so what options do you have when you install, as i never used 10.4.3. Ideally you want base patch (work around to enable you to install on non apple hardware) and the no NX patch. thrunner
I think your problem may be specific to your motherboard chipset, the VT87551 is not exactly a recommended chipset. You should attach your setup in your signature when asking for help. You should also try to run Xbench to see what is slow in your system. I'm using: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=...indpost&p=79217- Intel Celeron 345 (Prescott) - MSI MS-7095 with P4M266 (VT87551) Chipset - 1.5 GB Ram - 80GB HD with Windows XP - 300GB HD with two partitions: 260GB Windows Data (NTFS), 40 GB (primary) MacOSX - Matrox Millenium G450 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13600-rosettas-apps-sloooow/#findComment-86743 Share on other sites
