I am trying to get this (MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPatched_Myz.iso) to install on a stock Dell OptiPlex GX 280. Here are the orginal specs for the machine:

PENTIUM 4 PRESCOTT DT, Pentium 4 Prescott DT, 3.4GHZ, 1 MEGB, 800FSB, SKT-T, E0, MALE

DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 512, 400M, 64X64, 8, 240, 1RX8

ASSEMBLY, COMPACT DISK READ WRITE/DIGITAL VIDEO DISK DRIVE COMBO, 24X, IDE (INTEGRATED DRIVE ELECTRONICS), HITACHI LG DATA STORAGE, TRANSFORMER KILLER BEE

HARD DRIVE, 80GB, Serial ATA, 7.2K, 8MB, NATIVE COMMAND QUEUEING, SEAGATE

I had 10.4.1 running on it(with the onboard NIC not working), without a big hic-up. But now, I cannot even get it to the stage where I can select my drive on which to install OS X. I have tried

Turning everything off in the BIOS,

Switching my SATA drive to "Combination" which my BIOS says is "better for some older OS's that don't 'do' SATA"

I have tried different DVD brands

I have tried a different ISO image other than "Myz" to no avail.

I have searched and searched the forum for this error happening in the way it is happening to me

Just once I did get to where OS X was starting to install, but that error'ed out with

where it was "assembling temp receipt"

The error I get now is " Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS

Codes: Kern_Invalid_Address "

Any help is welcomed at this stage

I had a problem when it was just about to start the installation process. Had this problem going for around 2 weeks now and today got it sorted by swapping my DVD drive with my old one.

Yes a simple swap. And it worked.

Haven’t swapped it back because the original one I had was a DVD- burner and the one I have now is a DVD player.

Maybe try and get one of someone and give it a go. :)
