22HERTZ
After using weaksauce's method for a long time with fantastic results I have decided to update. So I used Boot 132/retail DVD. Flashed the MAC friendly BIOS, installed dsmos.kext , NVinject.kext and removed AppleCPUPowerManagement.kext I now have a fully working, fast Leopard install - except for 2 things. No sound and No EFI 2 questions -I was wondering which EFI you guys have had success with on the BadAxe2 -Is the AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16 still ok to use with this install method? I have STAC9274D.v7 but unfortunately I dont know how to install it. I dont post much, and would like to say THANK YOU for this forum and the exceptional work everyone has done here. Most of us definately are standing on the shoulders of giants! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135655-badaxe2-users/ Share on other sites
The Baron
2 questions-I was wondering which EFI you guys have had success with on the BadAxe2 For EFI I boot up the installed system with the Boot 132 disk in the drive, then when I get to desktop I use PCWiz's OSX Tools (Version 149 - the later one didn't work for me) http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=8fc8d52...2518a059f6f0313 Click on 'Install EFI/ Run FDISK' amd follow the instructions. -Is the AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16 still ok to use with this install method? I have STAC9274D.v7 but unfortunately I dont know how to install it. To install Taruga's AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16, you need the patcher and the sound card specific file. I've uploaded them here http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=8fc8d52...21f618b97886794 Just drag the text file onto the app and drop There is also this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=130380 which I havn't tried but it looks like t enables full in/ out sound Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135655-badaxe2-users/#findComment-961151 Share on other sites
22HERTZ
Already got sound working. I used the good ol' V1.16 since It worked on my previous install. Interestingly I notice after rebooting my monitor goes blank for a few seconds while booting - like it did on my previous install. It was not doing that until I installed this. No big deal, just wanted to throw that out there for any interested parties. I have been trying the OSx86 Tools method with no success. Ill try the version you suggest. 22HERTZ
Yes, I saw that but I don't know how to install it. Like many things around here not enough newbie information is given, and a lot is assumed. For instance the first sentence says "REMOVE the old HDAEnabler.kext and use the new one." Does that mean drop it in the trash, delete and drag the new one in its place? Or does it me cd to that location and remove in terminal? Where is it located? You see many of us here just dont have enough knowledge to carry out these instructions, and the information given is vague to the point you must have some experience. I understand these guys have forgotten more than Ill know about software, and realize I cant ask for help because Im too far behind. So I just patiently wait for well written instructions, well made kexts or prepackaged installers. Such is the misery of the uneducated Sorry to vent, but its been a really hectic 2 days trying to get this PC back to life, and I appreciate the link. On a lighter note I have my trusty MBP to help me through all this Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135655-badaxe2-users/#findComment-961761 Share on other sites

The Baron
Once I've installed and booted with 132 CD, I copy across: ACPIPS2Nub.kext IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext dsmos.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext SMBIOSEnabler.kext Not sure if I need them all but my install works great. These kexts should be on your CD, let me know if you need them. 22HERTZ
HAHAHA...as soon as I ask something I seem to figure it out right before I get the reply. Well as luck would have it I tried a Boot132 with those kexts included, and it this install has been running two days straight without a single problem. Do you have a PS2 keyboard or mouse? I have a PS2 keyboard I would rather use but it didn't work...I thought it would with those kexts. I wonder if the modified BIOS Im using is affecting that??? bigvalboa
i have been trying to install with boot132, but everytime i let it boot. My leopard install disk sits at the leopard background with a spinning wheel, and never goes past that point. I am using boot132 kabyl no modifications, and a retail leopard dvd. Any suggestions? The Baron
After you boot with 132, & swap the Leo DVD, you will get to a prompt. Type -v and you'll get text instead of the white Apple screen. Post back here with the last messages when it hangs. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135655-badaxe2-users/#findComment-971027 Share on other sites
bigvalboa
It doesnt hang on anything of the -v stuff. It gets past all of that, and boots to the default leopard background, with the spinning beach ball forever.
