I have been trying to install OSX for weeks now and cannot get it working Native or in VMware. I have now located the issue to the fact that the partition that I have OSX installed on is not the TYPE AF that I have been reading about.

I have been reading the forum for a while and decided to Try Acronis Disk director and tried changing the partition in their. I have tried several different types but cannot find AF. I managed to get OSX working in VMware by setting the type to Acronis Hidden, but it still does not boot Native.

I did read about using CFdisk to convert the partition to AF. So I downloaded a Ubuntu Live CD but it fails to boot on my HP laptop.

Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to convert this partition to the correct type?

Many Thanks

Hello,

firstable you have to cretae a new partition with acronis or partition magic (the bay is your friend!).

Create one and do not format it, let the mention "unallocated".

Then, start, run, type cmd.

Type "diskpart" (without the ")

type "list disk",

you're able to see your several disks now,

type "select disk #", replace # by the right number,

type "list partition",

then "select partition #" ; be careful, do not select your windows partition !

type "create primary partition id=af"

the, type "active" and "exit".

You got it!

Keep me in touch,

cheers

You can use the computer management prog in control panel, admin, to create and delete partitions, i just used it to deleted space, then the create primary partition id=af actually creates a new partition, and then made active, save finding partition magic etc.
