iStep
you must boot with cpus=1 flag first, and then apply the DSDT patch (force compile) either within the installer or a separate GUI itself... i tried that and installed iPC, but booting leads to a kernel panic, no matter what fixes i try. the last line i see is about the ACPI_SMC_Platform Plugin and the MACOS and kernel versions. could you tell us your hardware and installation settings? have you tried a linux dump for the alc888? upinthecloude
I'm using MSI P43 Neo3-f Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 nothing else matters much. use vanilla kernel, don't check any of the other kernels. I checked ACPI Fix, JMicron ATA Both PCI detection fixes, SMBIOSEFI and make sure you check the ICH10 fix, not the ICHX fix. just install what you need to get started, and nothing else. from the distro installation, you can get a clean retail install. Yes I've tried a linux dump, it doesn't work. I've tried my own dump, as well as others, and nothing works =[ All I get is detection of Intel HD Audio, but no Available devices... I'll post up a retail guide soon... with all the kexts needed to get a fully working system... except sound -.- Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135046-msi-p43-neo3-f-mobo/page/2/#findComment-1096554 Share on other sites
upinthecloude
Sound WORKS!!! I was messing around with legacy kexts along with HDA Patcher... and found a kext for the Asus m50 laptop... the one that msl used... and a combination of all three made SOUND! Retail guide definitely coming up soon. If not by tonight then tomorrow night. Testfreak
If anybody is interested. I have p43-neo (7519) mobo and I'm running iatkos v7 and updated to 10.5.8. I'm running vanilla kernel. In the past I had no luck with this mobo. Errors like 'mac framebuffer succesfully initialised', 'iokitwaitquiet, waiting for kernel symbols'. This mobo really tested me to my limits. But then I patched the dsdt.aml with a patcher that enabled some AMI bios specs and.... all went fine. Really fast hackintosh now, seeing all my HD's (5), IDE and SATA. Never had a problem or a crash since. SO ALL OF YOU WHO WHAVE THE 'p43 NEO' motherboard. PACHT THE DSDT.AML with a patcher in windows (www.osx.nl) Good luck. I hope this will help you!!!! Testfreak
I will gladly share the DSDT.aml file (just put it in root directory and reboot). One small problem though. Once the dsdt is copied in the root, I can't seem to obtain the 800 mhz memory pseed. Whatever kext I install, it stays 667. Doesn't bother me afterall, just telling you. (rename DSDT.txt to . aml) Hope to be of any help dsdt.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135046-msi-p43-neo3-f-mobo/page/2/#findComment-1237927 Share on other sites

(rename DSDT.txt to . aml) Hope to be of any help Thanks for the DSDT. My daughter gave me just enough time to download, rename and restart the computer. Its doing the stupid thing where it instantly reboots, so I am guessing that I dont have something setup quite like I should, but thats ok. I will see if I can open the file in the patcher program I have. I hate sounding like a noob but I havent been able to get the /Extras folder to work with OSx86 yet, what kexts do you have in your Extras folder? I know that you use iAtkos v7 (which I have) but I think that it creates the /Extras folder for you. Testfreak
Hey. I'm not an expert myself. I just did like 20 hackintosh setups on different PC's and read a lot of forums, hih, that's all. I suggest you boot with cpus=1 as a kernel flag. So when you reboot and you see the chameleon, type "cpus=1". My CPU is dual core, so I don't use this flag if I want full CPU power. I used only the IATKOS DVD kexts (chipset ICH10, JMICRON, VOODOO for SOUND), I used efi strings for nvidia 8600 GT WHEN YOU INSTALL IATKOS v7, DISABLE DSDT patch in the options and install the one I gave good luck! Let me know ... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135046-msi-p43-neo3-f-mobo/page/2/#findComment-1241738 Share on other sites

You mentioned to place it in the windows root directory. Would you mind giving me a little more detail on the placement of the patch . Want to make sure it is in the correct spot. Also using the Q8200 is there any thing else I should be aware of. Do you recomend any other versions of the install more suited to my MB and CPU? thanks, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135046-msi-p43-neo3-f-mobo/page/2/#findComment-1257762 Share on other sites
Testfreak
Hey to you all, In detail for those using a MSI p43 Neo, first I'll give you my specs: - the well known MB p43-neo - nvidia 8600 GT - wifi-stick DWA-140 (from DLINK, which has mac drivers!!!) - used distro: IATKOS V7 (no luck with other distros like ideneb, ipc, leo4all, ...) HOW I DID IT (after a lot of trying ... trial and error, hi) In the options (customize) from the DVD: 1) DO NOT SELECT THE DSDT-patch. TWO ways to do it: a) or wait a long time till you finally get to the desktop, you will eventually, but after like 15 min 'waiting for kernel to write symbols' or 'IOKITwait' error. Once you're in apply the DSDT-patcher from www.osx86.nl to MAKE A DSDT.aml file. The produced DSDT has to be renamed to DSDT.aml because the patch is given a longer filename. Just RENAME it correctly and PUT IT INTO YOUR ROOT FOLDER, so in the '/' folder. OR YOU CAN USE THE DSDT.AML file I provided 2) In the chipsetdrivers: SELECT the ICH-drivers and the JMICRON 3) if you have an intel duo core CPU, don't choose any kernel, for it install VANILLA kernel by default. 4) if you have an NVIDIA card, you can choose NVINJECT. It is however better to add the strings with OSXTOOLS, but if you don't know how, I recommend the NVINJECT 5) choose VOODOO for sound It should work. I dubbel patched my DSDT. So I patched it secondly with PATCHER02BETA5 (you have to do that in windows). This patcher enabled me to get my two cores working and has some specifics for the AMI bios (used by MSI). Honestly, I don't know if this second patching is really necessary. HOPE I HAVE HELPED YOU WITH THIS. IF NOT, don't hesitate to write. BYE (sorry formy language errors...) Testfreak
Hey to you all, MORE GOOD NEWS for the MSI P43-NEO mobo, Today I installed snow leopard universal quite easily following an internet tutorial. Afterwards I was able to update it to 10.6.1. Works like a charm!!! So MSI p43 neo is a wonderfull hackintosh mobo!!! Delay that good news. I'm already getting my first unexplained kernel panics. Checking forums.... I'll keep you all informed. JCsHands
I finally have a (mostly) working retail installation of 10.5. I installed 10.5 updated to 10.5.7 (because of the builtin ICH10 drivers) installed Chameleon2 RC2 then added the FakeSMC V2 that netkas has created, then for video I added the Universal Drivers (Also from Netkas) created a dsdt.aml file and that was it. rebooted, updated to 10.5.8, rebooted and after a autorestart and some crying it booted again then it was working. So 10.5.8 is working, I still need to play around with the sound and the dsdt file some more and then everything should be good to go. Also as a side note, sleep is working just fine. I left me computer came back and it looked like it had shut down on its own, I hit the power button and it came back to life. JCsHands
MSI Updated the BIOS on this board, it is now 1.A looks like it updated the CPU module and LAN ROM. Now my real reason for posting, TestFeak, did you get your Audio to work using the DSDT patcher? I have tried and tried but its not working for me yet, my NVIDIA card and Audio are not being enabled by the dsdt file. I did get my video card to work using the auto detect flag in chamleon, but no DSDT. Testfreak
Hey, I never really tried activating the onboard audio with dsdt patching (I knew there was a possibility in the patcher though). I was very happy with the voodooHDA.kext. I added the EFI strings for my video card (NVIDIA 8600). And now I have a 100% stable SNOW LEOPARD running very fast and nice. I avoided any further PANICS simply by installing the correct chipset drivers, ICHX from www.osx86.nl. Nouw dual boot: 10.5.8 or Snow L. Success to you all! tadbattery
I'm not sure how similar the P43 Neo3-F is to the P45 Neo-F, but I've had great success getting things installed and working properly. I have everything updated to OS X Leopard 10.5.8. I wrote a guide on what I did, might be a good starting point... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=188736 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135046-msi-p43-neo3-f-mobo/page/2/#findComment-1281477 Share on other sites
Testfreak
Hey, Tadbattery, seeying your configuration, I think your system is vanilla capable. so don't select any kernel. Just let it run vanilla, since you have a intel core duo. grtz, Testfreak Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135046-msi-p43-neo3-f-mobo/page/2/#findComment-1281501 Share on other sites
tadbattery
I've tried going vanilla, but it never boots and always hangs. Still working on that problem. Funny thing is, the only thing I can get to boot vanilla is Snow Leopard retail install. I don't know why, but I'll probably keep playing with it.
