I just purchased one of these cards and tossed it in my machine running 10.5.5 and no luck. It isnt detected at all, I was thinking it should be auto recognized.

Those of you that have this card working would you mind sharing how? Or if there's a certain kext I need could you guys post them :D

Thanks

NEVERMIND you asses lol

attached is the file that will get wireless working for you in 10.5.5 and so on for this adapter.

Had to figure this one out the hard way.

Just remove your old one in system/library/extensions and install this one with osx86tools

I just got that card last night... I ran the Kalyway 10.5.2 Install and it detected it automatically... awesome card... Hey, do you need a patch to get "N" working?

Not working with G networks... Only N. How do i know if i have the first or the second revision. A sticker on the device says the card have been manufactured on July 2008.

EDIT: Now it works but is very slow on a G w-network.

In OS X this card will never get a connection greater than 130mbps no matter what you do and it will never see and/or connect to 5ghz N network.

You don't need to change the IO80211Family drivers as suggested by someone else as this breaks other things.

just make sure that the Info.plist has pci14e4,4329 in it and it will work.

Hi,

Hi, so I just installed iPC 10.5.6, WNP300, and this kext driver. The internet is working. However there see to be some serious stability issues -- it crashes not stop (like every aspect just becomes completely nonresponsive) and I can't say for sure why. Usually this happens within 5 minutes of me booting up -- it seems to happen at random points, but in particular right when im trying to mount a disk image for an application I just downloaded. Do you have any thing I might try? I also got an issue one time booting up (which went away after restart) that said, disks2s; runtime corruption fsck corruption

thanks

Can you give us some step on how to edit the info.plist? Do i use osx tool to do it? I tried but couldnt figure it out. Thanks

After spending 3 days fiddling around until 5 in the morning I was able to duplicate my method and install this card successfully. Read below for more information. Please note that I have also rebranded my WMP300N using this instruction here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=135862 . You might not need to rebrand your linksys but I did it out of frustration during the 3 days so I'm not sure if it is necessary. Without rebranding, your wireless card will show up as Third party wireless card in the System info instead of Airport Extreme. Also, rebranding will allow you to take advantage of 802.11N mode according to some guru on this forum.

Tools:

Fresh copy of OSX 10.5.6 install without any wireless network drivers installed or wireless patch (I used IPC 10.5.6)

OSX86 Tool

Kext helper

Instruction:

1.Install OSX 10.5.6 without any network drivers installed or patch. If you have already installed OSX and have network drivers installed, you can try but I don't know if it will work.

2. Download the modified IO80211Family.kext.zip attached below. This kext is a factory kext from IPC 10.5.6 with the added pci string "<string>pci14e4,4329</string>" to be compatible with the Linksys card Rev1.

3.Unzip the file and drag the kext into Kext Helper and install it. Make sure to put in a password if you have one.

3A. Not sure if this matter but I also delete the file Extensions.mkext in the \System\Library\ folder

4. Fire up OSX86 tool, put a check-mark into the box Clear Extensions Cache, Repaid Permission and click on Run Selected Task.

5. DELETED

6. After all steps are completed, reboot your computer. During Darwin boot screen, hit F8 on your keyboard and type in -f and hit enter to reload all the kext. You will only need to do the -f during boot one time.

8. Now if you did everything correctly, Airport should be listed. Note that everytime you update the airport utility or airport client, you must redo the following instructions over again including the -f during boot or else your wireless card will not be detected.

Update: It seems that Airport client Update 2009-001 is not compatible for the kext I have attached here. Why? I have no idea. Every time I update it, the wireless card would disappear and when I repair the wireless card, the update would appear again in Software update.

Problem:

1. Airport not shown even after following all the steps.

Answer: Try switching PCI port. I have an Asus P5GC and the lower pci port doesn't seem to work or work on and off.

I just did an install of a newly purchased Linksys WMP300N (must be version 1, I didn't see a version 2 anywhere in the packaging or on the card) on an install of IPC 10.5.6. I had all of my kexts installed for this system:

I already had the Microtek kext installed for my onboard ethernet. I followed b18onboost's instructions almost exactly:

1. I installed b18onboost's IO80211Family.kext with OSX86 tools. I choose not to reboot after the install.

2. With OSX86Tools under System Maintenance I selected "Set Extensions permission", "Clear Extensions Cache", "Clear User Application Cache", "Clear System Application Cache", "Touch Extensions Folder". Then I clicked on Run Selected Tasks

3. I rebooted and when the Darwin boot options screen came up I used the -f flag.

4. I went into the Airport control and configured my wireless network.

Thats it! I didn't rebrand my card or delete anything manually and I only used OSX86Tools

I followed the advice not to update my Airport software.
