nope i there is a option not to install the .5 upgrade but im quite happy in 10.4.5 apart form installing X11, its not all that important just for trying out wine. I will be buying a iMac soon anyway but installing X11 on this would really be great so i can still play with it.

1) put your Tiger Installation DVD inside your DVD-ROM

2) launch the Terminal application

3) type the following line (quotes and spaces included):

open "/Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages"

4) a finder window should appear with lots of packages in it

5) double-click X11User.pkg and follow the instructions

Hope it will work....

didnt need to do that, i tryed my own way. i opened the Tiger install DVD then double clicked the "optional installs"(you have the scroll to the bottom of the folder theres a big space) and i choise X11 form the list and it installed it, then optimised my preformance then i opened up notepad.exe and X11 opened and so did notepad.exe all i need to do now is work a little on darewine to get it more like the linux version and able to install Command and Conqure 95.

Good job babyjenniferLB!

As for Darwine, you'll find that it is nothing compared to Wine in Linux! It still needs some work.

Good luck,

FM

by the looks of the code its not that bad, im crossing over more of the code form wine source code and crossover office source code. a little form cedega source. with a lot of work and a little work i will be able to build a working app in a couple months that i can install half life 2 on. cedega can allready do that its just porting the code.
