FatMike
Hi all! I just made a list at my favourite reseller to build an OSX-Box. I selected the following items: Mainboard Socket 775 Intel D945GNTLKR CPU Socket 775 Celeron D 336 2800 MHz HDD 300GB SATA RAM DIMM 1 GB DDR2-533 Is it possible to install the leaked OSX 10.4.5 from the net on this machine without any big problems? I also want to use my old DVDR IDE Drive. thnx in advance fat Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13329-my-selected-hardware-config/ Share on other sites
FullMetal
I think you'll be fine as long as your processor has SSE3 and/or SSE2 (it most likely has both) My bet would be, yes you probably could install 10.4.5 on this setup. Good Luck, FM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13329-my-selected-hardware-config/#findComment-84817 Share on other sites

MacApprentice
I think you should get 2x512MB 533 instead, cause those'll be working in dual channel (it doubles the transfer rate) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13329-my-selected-hardware-config/#findComment-85071 Share on other sites
FatMike
ok thanx, there is no difference in the price i think. is a celeron d 2800mhz fast enough to let audio and video apps like logic and reason run smoothly with my onboard graphic? bofors
I think you should get 2x512MB 533 instead, cause those'll be working in dual channel (it doubles the transfer rate) Absolutely, and also I would get an SATA II hard drive, they are about the same price and it makes a differnence on these SATA II (3.0 Gbps boards): http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/har...7K250/index.htm Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13329-my-selected-hardware-config/#findComment-85484 Share on other sites
MacApprentice
SATA or SATA-II won't really be an improvement over ATA133 cause HDD specs are the same. To notice an improvement you should get a WD Raptor 10000rpm wich costs more I got my sata drive cause it was cheap and the small cable looks nice Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13329-my-selected-hardware-config/#findComment-85603 Share on other sites
FatMike
the hdd i selected IS a MAXTOR 6V300F0 DiamondMax Plus 10 SATA II so i think it should be the fastest for this price. bofors
SATA or SATA-II won't really be an improvement over ATA133 cause HDD specs are the same. Hey, did you read this? Because I posted the link for reason. http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/har...7K250/index.htm To notice an improvement you should get a WD Raptor 10000rpm wich costs more Let me tell from personal experience that Raptors are a total waste of money. Here is the reasons why: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...ic=7393&st=324# the hdd i selected IS a MAXTOR 6V300F0 DiamondMax Plus 10 SATA II so i think it should be the fastest for this price. Good choice, now for speed you can set up some small partitions at the edge of the disk. MacApprentice
Good point about SATA but I only got SATA 1 on my mobo and raid 0 means 2 times the price too so it's a no go for me. I think Maxtor is a bad choice, those are unreliable, noisy, hot, all that {censored}. I won't even think of buying one. Get a Hitachi, A Western or a Seagate instead. Just my 2 cents Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13329-my-selected-hardware-config/#findComment-85814 Share on other sites
