try it I think is a good but partial solution at least you have native resolution and more if you are lucky.

BUT please change your ID number in kext !

have fun

unrar the file in desktop

change ID number of you card , put in info.plist of CallistoHAL , Atiradeon9700 using texedit.

install all the kexts using kexthelper, repair permissions and reboot ,

I think works on all old ATI card under X1000.

hi lunux...

i've tried your kexts...

i've change the 3 id there are in CallistoHAL and the one there is in AtiRadeon9700 kext, then i've installed it

but after the permission reparation and the reboot, osx won't boot...it freezes at CODE_SIGNING...

however i've tried safe boot with -x , the system runs but there aren't multiple resolution and QE/CI...

Is the procedure right?

Is there a solution for that?

(i've an X700 256mb, the id is 5E4B)

thanks for all

(sorry for my english)

CODE_SIGNING is a problem of AMD cpu, have you an AMD pc?

I dont think is connected unless you have a some AMD ATI motherboard

try only Callisto kext and check the resoluton, by the way my kext are for LEO 10.5.5.

another question do you have installed some EFI or Chameleon Efi bootloader?

yes, i've an amd cpu and an asus a8n-sli...but before the installation of your kexts, the message code_signing doesn't appear and the system boots correctly...

(now i reinstall osx, kaly 10.5.2, but i don't know if i've install efi or charmaleon...)

however, when i tried only callisto the system works perfectly with multiple resolution, but i don't have QE/CI...

please, tell me how-to have QE/CI in my card :D

thanks :P

I am sorry if my kext have damaged your osx, but it seems very strange because they do not affect the system , you can delete and everything come back to normal. I cannot suggest more because I am not a MA legend but I only tried to do some experiment

my ideneb 10.5.5. works very well and my kexte are good , try again if you wish

bye

i've reinstalled osx and i've updated it to 10.5.5

i've changed the 3 id in CallistoHAL and the one id in AtiRadeon9700...i've installed them with Kext Helper, i've done the reparation of permission and i've reboot, but the kexts haven't had effect...in fact there isn't in Extensions folder the kext of CallistoHAL...however i've manually reinstalled it but now after the loading of callisto the system freeze at Macintosh /usr/sbin/ocspd[84]: starting ...

If i boot osx in safe mode, the system boots...but there isn't QE/CI activated and multiple resolution...

Is there a solution for this?

thanks

I cannot say why is not usefull for you

try to install only Callisto kexts to use native resolution

which ID is your card ?

delete all ATITadeon kexts to check if works full bios resolution.

if not I am sorry but I cannot do more .

thanks for your patience lunux...

ok, i can try only callisto kexts, but i get only multiple resolution, that i've already had when i've installed callisto last time, but no QE/CI

Is not there a solution for QE/CI for my video card?

thanks

I'm in the situation as albmac8, but I use x600 mobility with ID:3150 .

Try to install your kext several time but didn't work.

Right now I've got Multiple resolution with Callisto kext. What should I do next to enable QE/CI?

Thanks you.

thank you very much lunux...

is not a problem if my video card is PCI express?

;)

nothing is change...the system boot correctly but this time there isn't multiple resolution, and QE/CI obviously...

are you sure your modified kexts are correct? system profiler says me that there aren't kexts loader for graphics card...

thanks

Ok, I spent a few hours on the ideas here to try to get my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB AGP card to work in iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5. I downloaded every Leopard Combo updater (plus 10.4.8) and tried every version combination.

In the end I was able to get System Profiler to report CI/QE as Hardware Accelerated / Supported but the results were terrible. Performance was worse than the 'Software' CI/QE support (10.5.5 ATI drivers)

With this fix, I experienced a lot of mouse tearing and square glitches on the screen. I really don't think this solution taps into the card's actual hardware acceleration, it just reports to the OS that it's working fine. Also no OpenGL apps would work at all with this setup. Maybe it works better on the X600 and other sub-X1000 series cards though.. but this is just my experience.

The final combination of software versions I used was:

ATIRadeon9700.kext - 10.4.8 Intel Combo Update

ATIRadeon9700DVDDriver.bundle - 10.5.1 Combo Update

ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin - 10.4.8 Intel Combo Update

ATIRadeon9700GLDriver.bundle - 10.5.1 Combo Update

ATIRadeon9700VADriver.bundle - 10.5.1 Combo Update

ATIRNDRV.kext - 10.5.1 Combo Update

ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver - 10.5.1 Combo Update

Callisto b008

A few weeks ago, I bought a 2nd hand Nvidia FX5500 for about $20 which performs incredibly well in comparison (overall performance on this P4 system is on par with my PowerBook G4). I was just giving the 9700 one last shot to try to untap it's potential in Leopard, but now I'm happy to let it go knowing that I tried everything I could!

I read all the warnings, but I'll reiterate; Don't waste your time trying to get an ATI 9700 AGP to work in Leopard!

(Maybe one day AGPGart will have full support for it...)
