Anyone try this mobo? I'm putting together my osx86 box and I've already got 1gb ddr2-667, a pentium d 820, and everything else except a motherboard. I was checking out the p5dl2-vm, but this is cheaper by about $25 and has firewire as well as Viiv (not sure exactly if that means anything) and better pcie 1x slot placement. As far as I can tell all the components should work fine in 10.4.5 (8110s gigabit, ALC880 audio, GMA950 video). I think I'll get this board if I don't hear any reason not to.

See thats what I thought before I ordered, but hidden on that pge there are three versions. 1.0a , 1.0b (what i ordered) and 1.0b-viiv. I think overclocking may be its weakness. It says in the manual that it has cpu frequency control in the bios, but that may be capped at 200. Oh well if it can't overclock i'll return it or sell it.

You guys have any luck with this ECS board? Newegg has a deal on it right now if you bundle it with some DDR2...

out of box what works and what doesn't? SATA/ ICH7 South bridge, Audio, GMA 950, LAN, firewire, usb??? or was it put it together, stick in the 10.4.5 universal DVD going around and you've you a mactel all of your own? Thanks!

This board seems to work great in OS X 10.4.5. Everything except the audio detected automatically. I don't have time right now to try to get the audio working, but its ALC880 so I'm sure its not hard. It says it has the ability to raise the fsb up to 510 in the bios, but I doubt it will make it much past 220 since there are no options to raise voltage as far as i can see. I'll give a more comprehensive review of this board this weekend.

Ok, I'm having a lot of trouble getting the alc880 audio working. Anyone have a concise description of the easiest way to get alc880 working on a 945g board in 10.4.5?

I'm running this board at 229 fsb with the Pentium D 820 @3.21ghz and its working great.Everything except the audio works beautifully in 10.4.5

I'm using applehda.kext from 10.4.3 and editing info.plist from the applehdacontroller.kext plugin. I just can't seem to get the right device id. How do I know the device id of the audio bus? is applehdacontroller the only kext i should be editing?

Sorry for bringing this up, but I've read the other thread over and over and nothing is working for me. (yes i delete extensions.mkext + extensions.kextcache and repair permissions before restarting).

Success! For anyone interested in this board, everything is auto detected except for audio. To enable audio go here http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...hl=alc880&st=80 and download the applehda.kext posted by callypso and replace the applehda.kext in the extensions folder. Delete appleazalia.kext , extensions.mkext and extensions.kextcache. Repair permissions with disk utility, restart and you'll have audio!

Very happy with this system so far!
