MMatlock
on disk test in xbench i get pretty terribly low scores on my HP zd8000, is there any speed boost i can use to improve my write speeds? Or is it just a problem with IDE ATA not being fast? Also my CPU feels a bit low for a p4 3.2ghz, maybe thats just me. heres my xbench: Results 76.67 System Info Xbench Version 1.2 System Version 10.4.5 (8G1454) Physical RAM 1024 MB Model ADP2,1 Drive Type ST960822A CPU Test 53.85 GCD Loop 83.28 4.39 Mops/sec Floating Point Basic 56.39 1.34 Gflop/sec vecLib FFT 36.90 1.22 Gflop/sec Floating Point Library 57.33 9.98 Mops/sec Thread Test 86.69 Computation 71.91 1.46 Mops/sec, 4 threads Lock Contention 109.11 4.69 Mlocks/sec, 4 threads Memory Test 110.83 System 91.40 Allocate 70.65 259.45 Kalloc/sec Fill 107.66 5234.59 MB/sec Copy 106.61 2201.99 MB/sec Stream 140.74 Copy 139.78 2887.09 MB/sec Scale 136.64 2822.84 MB/sec Add 144.37 3075.38 MB/sec Triad 142.41 3046.48 MB/sec Quartz Graphics Test 85.29 Line 87.60 5.83 Klines/sec [50% alpha] Rectangle 80.27 23.96 Krects/sec [50% alpha] Circle 80.38 6.55 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha] Bezier 87.54 2.21 Kbeziers/sec [50% alpha] Text 91.85 5.75 Kchars/sec OpenGL Graphics Test 111.97 Spinning Squares 111.97 142.04 frames/sec User Interface Test 121.80 Elements 121.80 559.02 refresh/sec Disk Test 22.25 Sequential 33.88 Uncached Write 24.09 14.79 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 33.36 18.87 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 54.05 15.82 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 35.62 17.90 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 16.56 Uncached Write 5.62 0.60 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 34.00 10.89 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 56.62 0.40 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 60.32 11.19 MB/sec [256K blocks] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13007-slow-readwrite-scores-in-xbench/ Share on other sites
alan smithee
yeah.... I want your desk test results....heres mine Disk Test 7.806176 Sequential 5.734238 Uncached Write 4.665364 2.86 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 5.118255 2.90 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 9.135758 2.67 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 5.606018 2.82 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 12.222501 Uncached Write 7.642998 0.81 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 9.026257 2.89 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 64.073792 0.45 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 14.279258 2.65 MB/sec [256K blocks] This is on a laptop, but with a 7200rpm drive, so wtf? about your cpu though, my p4 2.8 gets a 51.354919 so your 400Mhz increase gains you 2 points? seems odd. and your graphics: I have nvidia, so uh, I get a 29.067396. Ouch. Overall message: It could be worse. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13007-slow-readwrite-scores-in-xbench/#findComment-82585 Share on other sites

rohde
Try this: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...pic=517&hl=disk Worked for me in 10.4.3 (in 10.4.5 I didn't have the problem with slow disk I/O).
