lucose
Hey guys, My HP Presario B1800 notebook is bultin ICH6 AC97, but no sound. Kernel load the AC97 driver and I can change the output volume well. Everything is good, but no sound!.... I found an intresting file 'com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist' in /Library/Preferences folder. Anyone can post this file to me? I think ICH6 and working version is best. I try to replace it with a 'working version'. See what would happen; here is mine: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>com.apple.audio.CoreAudio.DeviceSettings.AppleAC97AudioEnginePCMIn:1</key> <dict> <key>device 'crss' control on input channel 0</key> <integer>1633878016</integer> <key>device 'etum' control on input channel 0</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>device 'mlov' control on input channel 1</key> <real>1</real> <key>device 'mlov' control on input channel 2</key> <real>1</real> <key>physical format for input stream 0</key> <dict> <key>bits per channel</key> <integer>16</integer> <key>bytes per frame</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>bytes per packet</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>channels per frame</key> <integer>2</integer> <key>format flags</key> <integer>12</integer> <key>format id</key> <integer>1819304813</integer> <key>frames per packet</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>sample rate</key> <real>48000</real> </dict> </dict> <key>com.apple.audio.CoreAudio.DeviceSettings.AppleAC97AudioEnginePCMOut:0</key> <dict> <key>device 'crss' control on output channel 0</key> <integer>1633878016</integer> <key>device 'etum' control on output channel 0</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>device 'etum' control on output channel 1</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>device 'etum' control on output channel 2</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>device 'mlov' control on output channel 1</key> <real>1</real> <key>device 'mlov' control on output channel 2</key> <real>1</real> <key>physical format for output stream 0</key> <dict> <key>bits per channel</key> <integer>16</integer> <key>bytes per frame</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>bytes per packet</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>channels per frame</key> <integer>2</integer> <key>format flags</key> <integer>12</integer> <key>format id</key> <integer>1819304813</integer> <key>frames per packet</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>sample rate</key> <real>48000</real> </dict> </dict> <key>com.apple.audio.CoreAudio.DeviceSettings.AppleAC97AudioEngineSPDIF:2</key> <dict> <key>device 'crss' control on output channel 0</key> <integer>1936745574</integer> <key>physical format for output stream 0</key> <dict> <key>bits per channel</key> <integer>16</integer> <key>bytes per frame</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>bytes per packet</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>channels per frame</key> <integer>2</integer> <key>format flags</key> <integer>12</integer> <key>format id</key> <integer>1819304813</integer> <key>frames per packet</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>sample rate</key> <real>48000</real> </dict> </dict> </dict> </plist> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1277-help-intel-915gm-ich6-audio/ Share on other sites

I only got '2ch-16ch' option. At Configure Speakers, only 'stereo' channel 1, 2. no channel 3 and 4. Too bad! But thanks anyway. Still hope someone can post your working om.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist file to me..... By the way, I can not change the master volume slider within 'Audio MIDI Setup'. It's disabled. Anyone got the same problem? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1277-help-intel-915gm-ich6-audio/#findComment-7744 Share on other sites

I too have a card that shows up under the ICH6 section. I don't think any of us who have these cards have had any luck. *shrug* Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1277-help-intel-915gm-ich6-audio/#findComment-7768 Share on other sites

"SoundMax" or whatever on a Compaq DC7100 SFF (915G chipset). In the Sound is it listed as Line Out for you or does it actually say Headphones? My mic works though. I recorded through it then played it back on a different machine and it worked. I wonder where it is routing my audio out to. I'm on a Gateway M250X laptop. cyrana
It says line out...or it might have just had speakers. But when I test a screen pops up where you click on each speaker to make static and both sides worked. In the midi panel, I remember one of the PCM options had 2 I could pick from, and one of them enabled sound whereas the other didn't. Not at work now so I can't take a look at the screen, though.
