vibez
I have just installed 10.4.5 on sony vaio Everything that matters works, ie video, sound, network, decent speed. It's stable and I am pretty chuffed with it. There is, however, one big problem. If I unplug the mains power, the video and sound become really choppy. This is only really a problem with media playback, but even the screen animations run really slowly on battery power. I presume that this is some power saving feature? Is there a way to fix it? Is it a PentiumM? I have a option "speedstep" on a HP notebook in the BIOS. If I disable it, the CPU will always run with full power. If I enable it, the CPU will slow down when it's not used to run longer with the battery. Maybe that can cause a problem on your notebook. vibez
No its an intel celeron M. I've looked in the bios and there are no option whatsoever for processor tweaking or power management. It is the most limited bios I have ever seen Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12762-laptop-really-slows-down-when-not-plugged-into-mains-power/#findComment-80873 Share on other sites

Dynamite
There is an option in the energy saver preferences to turn down processor performance when not plugged. Have a look, I hope that's what's happening. vibez
I didnt see that option anywhere. I'm sure os x is not seeing my laptop as a real laptop. There is no battery icon on the top bar either Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12762-laptop-really-slows-down-when-not-plugged-into-mains-power/#findComment-81485 Share on other sites
