Hi all,

I need some help with an installation... :sorcerer:

I have a legit version of 10.4.4 that came with an iMac (intel  ) , a copy of the autopatcher, m's patches and the boot loader files...

I have tried following guides published around the net but to no avail.

I have tried patching the image on my PowerBook with the autopatcher, creating a custom iso with maxxuss' files inserted into it, booting of a darwin cd and trying to boot os x from that, formatting the HD of the PC from my mac and using OSInstall.dist to copy files across - i think thats about it </rant>

The closest I have got is after patching the dmg with the autopatcher and booting from it;

"Your hardware config is not supported by Darwin/x86 blah blah blah

Am really stuck - what do I need to do?

Thanks in advance

OK, here goes - will be great to be able to do this in Apple System Profiler!!!

Pentium 4 Northwood SSE2 2.20 GHz

Realtek RTL8139 PCI NIC

NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400 graphics

PS/2 mouse and keyboard + a usb mouse and keyboard

Maxtor HD

Gigabyte motherboard - not too sure what model

I think that the autopatcher leaves out the sse2 patches? Ideally it would be best to make a bootable dvd, rather than install the OS from my mac.

cheers

OK, running nicely now, after a quick trip to them IRC Channel.

What alot of guides do not state is that your dvd drive must have recent(ish) firmware. Doh.

In the end I installed a self-patched version of 10.4.4 from my PowerBook - I might post some stuff as to how I managed this if anyone needs.

Yes please - I know I'm new here, but I have a 10.4.5 install DVD and I'm having a heckuva time figuring out how to modify it. Also, if it's possible to translate the instructions to Linux (as I don't currently have a working install of OS X with room for an install DVD), that'd be even better.
