Guys,

I know this has been answered before but I haven't been able to find the post. I just upgraded a 10.4.3 Jas patched installation using the 10.4.5 Jas patched DVD. Now I need to know if flash is suppose to work in Safari with this upgrade. BTW, flash does work in FireFox and in IE and I also know that it does work if I enable Rosetta. I just want to make sure this is still the case. If not then can someone guide me in the right direction to have flash work natively without having to enable Rossetta?

right click on the app --> get info, in there you can check the opton "open with rosetta"...

maybe i can run shapeshifter and unsanity apps with it on?

trust me, it doesn't work. ape won't run which is required by shapeshifter. so no shapeshifting days for now in intel macs might as well wait for the next version of unsanity apps.

flash is natively working in safari in 10.4.4+... if you don't have CI&QE you'll experience occasional crashes when viewing sites with flash objects in it.

Blackentangled,

My problem is not crashes. I get the re-direction to the http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer although I already have it installed.

Blackentangled,

In that case, you must have messed up something with your install. You don't need no Rosetta or anything for running flash in 10.4.4+. I guess maybe you installed the macromedia plugin from the website, and so you a) overwrote your existing flash that came with osx, or b ) you already installed flash in 10.4.3, and with upgrading, the software thought, your ppc flash is newer than the version that came with 10.4.4.+.

So you should first remove it, and reinstall safari from the essential pkg with pacifist and the overwrite option. You don't need the macromedia flash from the website, because even deerpark alpha2a is working out of the box, and afaik, the macromedia version is still no unibin. Unibin should be released soon, but anyway, flash is working fine.

Remove what first? Safari or macromedia flash?

Well, being that your problem is with Flash plugin, then why would you think that you would have to remove Safari? Come on man... think! :compress:

besides, someone said the Flash plugin is fine and your problem is that you are trying to view a site that is using Shockwave, which is not the same thing... there 2 plugsins, Flash and Shockwave... Flash is native, Shockwave is not. I don't know if that you are indeed trying to see a shockwave page or a flash page, but in either case, uninstall your flash and/or shockwave plugins and try again.

Mainly your problem is you are running on OLD version of hackintosh... upgrade to 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 instead of wondering why things aren't working with your old version.
