danskim
Has anyone been successful with installing Leopard on the Montevina platform? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/123178-osx86-and-montevina-platform/ Share on other sites
danskim
Well, I'll take that as a no. I'll be trying on my Montevina laptop that should be coming early next week, so perhaps in the future my failure or success will be helpful to someone. Purple Puppy
Well I tried installing Mac OS X Leopard from the Kalyway 10.5.1 disk on my Asus M50VM-B1, which has the Montevina chipset, and it won't even boot from the DVD. danskim
As in it won't recognize the DVD as bootable or just doesn't go into Darwin? I am booting from DVD right now waiting to see if I can get it to install. I am trying the newest Leo4All first and I have iDeneb and Kalyway as backups. This is for a T400 with T9400. It seems to be installing fine. I guess the only issues now will be whether it boots into OS X and also driver issues with the newer platform... like I have the newest intel wireless card and the newer intel integrated video. edit: It installed without issue, or so it seems. I just created an account, and it seems to automatically recognize my built-in webcam! danskim
Ok it also loaded into OS X time. About This Mac says "2.53 GHz unknown" It recognizes my 4GB of RAM but only as DDR2 667 not DDR3 1066 Unfortunately, not much works. The integrated video doesn't get recognized, and my display is only at 1024x768 instead of 1440x900. Wireless and LAN don't work. danskim
Perhaps there's hope for those with Montevina chipsets like me... at least more hope for more hardware compatibility... Apple is rumored to be releasing new aluminum MacBooks potentially with Montevina within the next few days/weeks. Violent Marv
Now that the aluminium ones are released and found to be a nvidia chipset is there any hope for montevina at all?? I was planning on a Hp dv5t in the next couple of months with a complete Macbook pro spec for 1.2k Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/123178-osx86-and-montevina-platform/#findComment-930878 Share on other sites
Chewy1576
I have tried Kalyway 10.5.2 on my Gateway P-7811FX. I was able to install OS X successfully but it won't boot. The farthest I was able to get was a dimmed out screen with a message that my computer needed to be rebooted. danskim
I successfully installed Leopard on my T400, and it works completely fine. The only problem is lack of drivers for the x4500 and for my 5300 wireless card.
