djet
*Scratch that!* New plan: What's a low-cost computer build that I can build on as I receive income for it. (Like something below 400$) that I can increase parts in it as I go..... Hack compatible if possible. Reqs: PCI-slot for graphics upgrading Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/122806-casual-computer-planning/ Share on other sites
m16
If you want to have an upgradeable machine build it yourself. Its highly unlikely you will be able to use a core 2 duo in a emachines pentium d machine. No chance at all for a 45 nm machine... FrankOS_Scripting
Humm, I would tempted to reply mini ATX. With these specs: Intel Atom 1.6GHz CPU Intel D945GCLF mini-ITX motherboard 2 Gb DDR2 RAM SATA Drives (optical and hard drives) PCIe slot (for graphic card) Cheap and powerful. Known to be running flawlessly with new Atom CPU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/122806-casual-computer-planning/#findComment-869037 Share on other sites
djet
So for upgrading I would probably wanna get a new video card as that will be able to work with this, then next go to a separate CPU and MOBO which will allow me to get more RAM? Sabr
If you buy a computer just to upgrade it, aren't you wasting money? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/122806-casual-computer-planning/#findComment-869873 Share on other sites
djet
Money that I don't have. I would not be upgrading it every month . Probably once a quarter at the most. Upgrading order: 1. PCIe Video Card 2. Processor/Mobo 3. More RAM (once I get the new processor /mobo) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/122806-casual-computer-planning/#findComment-870029 Share on other sites
