Sico
I tried several version now and all is about the same results, various kernel panic messages. First my desktop a new HP a6552f Quad6600, cpu socket 775 2.4ghz intel, 4 GB memory, Nvidia 9500GS video, Hard drive 640gb sata. The versions and messages I get: Kalyway 10.5.2 (hang on Kernel 9.2 ....., Jas 10.5.4 , Idneb 10.5.4 ( Hang on first apple image comes with a message later you need to start the computer), , iatkos 10.5.4 ( hang on : Extension "com.apple.driver.acpi_smc_PlatformPlugin) Also tried with all versions the advanced user options: (_v _x _f _s Rd:disk0s1 or 2.....) same results, no good. I read alot: more confused.... but knowing better the software and installation. Forget to mention that I have Vista on my hard drive: I did partition it, the second part format FAT32 for MacOSx and primary. Note: is it good idea to format the whole drive fat 32 for MAc only? Please any help to by pass these kernel panic? I was also wondering is the process to tell the software were to be install on witch drive done during the installation or need to be done before and how? I was also wondering is the process to tell the software were to be install on witch drive done during the installation or need to be done before and how? First you need to tell us in more detail about: (i) your BIOS settings for IDE/SATA (ii) your DVDRW.....is it SATA or PATA (iii) was your install DVDs burned at ≤ x4 and does it have the correct MD5 checksum?.... and (iv) your Installer DVD Customize selections Regarding recommended BIOS settings check for the following (not all options may be present BUT tell us what options you do have): Configure SATA as "AHCI" or Serial-ATA Configuration [Enabled] JMicron SATA / PATA Controller [Disabled].....if JMicron present.....unless it works for you [Enabled].....but JMicron is known to cause problems for some....but JMicron patches for OS X Install DVDs are now appearing...... JMicron Controller Mode [AHCI]....if present..... Execute Disable Bit [Enabled] ACPI APIC Support [Enabled] ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3] As regards the HDD formatting you can have both Vista and OS X.....partition hard drive as MBR with 2 primary partitions.....you can have Vista on first as NTFS and OS X on second as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) When booting from install DVD, at the boot: prompt type "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 -v" or if that does not work try "cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=X86PC -v" ....... LordRothen
I have the same problem. The worst problem is: In my BIOS is no option to change the SATA Mode to AHCI (But in Windows, the controller has AHCI in the name ) Will there be any version in near future which doesn't need to change to AHCI? Having AHCI in Windows (Vista?) means that the AHCI driver is preloaded or that if the laptop came with Windows preinstalled then AHCI may be an option in the BIOS...... A MOBO SATA controller chipset/BIOS combo may have these three modes of operation (OR may not have all three): IDE mode setting : no AHCI and no RAID function SATA mode setting : no RAID function but AHCI function (so sometimes SATA mode may be called AHCI mode) RAID mode : both AHCI function and RAID function so I suggest you try setting the onboard SATA control mode to RAID and see what happens..... I did check the motherboard visually, I find that the hard drive is connected on SATA0, the DVD drive on SATA1: So the SATA1 controller in bios is only for the DVD drive, nothing for SATA0 I checked in Windows vista hardware device setting for the hard drive : it's set to RAID. verdant
No, I can't set the WDC HDD as Slave. And no SATA options show in this fu*** BIOS. 1. Do you have the option of making the DVDRW the Primary Master and the HDD the Third Master? 2. You may be able to install the AppleIntelPIIXATA kext driver by Dune for Intel ICHx chipsets (i.e. ICH0 to 8 and 9), which has been tested and is known to work on the Asus P5K, P5K-E and Asus P5K Premium. Apparently, this kext should work with all Intel ICH based chipsets : 965 DS3, P5B, P5K-SE, P5K-VM, P5K Pro etc. and works as well in IDE Enhanced Mode or in IDE Compatible Mode. The HDDs are UDMA enabled, and fully working without I/O errors, even when RAM ≥ 3GB. See Dune's thread on this driver.... 3. Perhaps a search of the InsanelyMac fora and web via Google may find a more suitable BIOS you can flash the MOBO with...... 4.
