I just managed to install "osx86-fully-patched-sse2-rosetta-ati.iso" on my Acer Aspire SA-80, with custom additions.

Specs:

Intel Celeron D 3.06 GHz

80GB ATA HDD

120GB ATA HDD

160GB SATA HDD

ATI Radeon 9800SE

768MB DDR RAM

Results:

AC97 Sound not working, but did not try the vendor/product ID fix from the forum.

Graphics slow, plus glitches when scrolling. Used Quartz Debug (Quartz 2D Extreme) method from forum and getting 90+ fps on screen refresh, genie effect, moving windows etc. Scrolling glitch gone, but single remaining small rectangle glitch still happens occasionally.

HDD - SATA not working at all, only main drive and DVD-ROM connected to IDE-0 will work for original install (then you can reconnect other ATA drives. DVD-ROM must be on IDE-0 with main drive to be detected at all.

HDD - ATA drives at 2MB/sec read & write. Tried the intel fix on the forum, but machine froze on startup (waiting for root device again).

CD-Burning - Not tested, but other ATA was so slow, I doubt it would have worked except for maybe 1x or 2x.

All software seemed to run nicely, except for load times. downloaded and installed latest Firefox (Deer Park) and Thunderbird, and apart from loading times ran beautifully.

All in one HP PSC 1400 installed correctly detected and installed on OS install (printing only). Scanning available with Rosetta emulation - flakey but works for straight scanning (do not use any plug-in effects unless you enjoy spinning beachballs).

NT1PlusII USB ISDN modem detected. Installer from Telstra does not work, but Modem Scripts (64K, 128K, 128K DVO) can be copied over and work perfectly - full 16K down/up speeds.

Aiptek drawing tablet (USB) detected and working.

Kodak CX 6200 detected and working perfectly - full speed connection and transfers (much faster than WinXP).

That is all for now, I have uninstalled and gone back to WinXP. OSx86 seems to have changed some vital HDD settings, MBR etc etc, and it took me 4 hours to boot back into XP. I have since removed all trace of OSX86 :)

Hope this helps some of you out...

Not a bad result considering it was written for entirely different hardware!
