NatureX
I installed 10.4.3, and it boots nicely(only when the install dvd is in the drive). If the install dvd is not in the drive, it tells me that it cannot find a boot device. I installed Acronis,a nd attempted a dual boot, but I cannot get it to work, when I get to the screen, where it asks me which OS to boot to, if I select OSX, it gives me a HFS+ partition error. Don't know how to fix it, and I tried to find the answer in the forums, but to no avail. If anyone has any idea how to fix, or a better way to dual boot, it would be gratly appriciated. THanks. Yossarian
I like eXtended fdisk off of Hiren's Boot CD. It's simple and effective. NatureX
in windows, use acronis and convert your osx partition into a primary partition. Hey I did this, and I followed your 10 steps, step by step. WIth Acronis, after it gives me the option to select whch OS I want, selecting Max OSX, actually boots windows still. Then I tried your Chain0 one, and it seems as though it is going to do something, then it just brings me back to the OS selection. DOn't get it, any other ideas? rohde
Well, messing with bootladers can be nasty some times. As a consequence of this I simply choose from which HD to boot in the BIOS. It's very simple, hassle free and since I ususally boot in OS X it's easier as well. If you boot up very often in Windows as well I might imagine it could get a bit drudgy though. wmarsh
Yeah, I find what the problem is, is that, I hav to set my partition with OSX on it, active, before I boot up. Most bootmanagers installed into mbr of 1st disk can do this for you. Then you don't have to play with partitions or bios to change your boot. I use Boot Magic (comes with partition magic) for this. I believe GRUB can also do this. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12029-please-help-with-dual-boot/#findComment-76386 Share on other sites
