HELLO, dear HACK-users! ;-)

I have Kalyway 10.5.4 installed on my Asus F3Sv laptop (2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo T7500, 2 gb 667 Mhz DDR2, 200 gb SATA HDD, 256 mb GeForce 8600 GS, Attansic L1 ethernet controller, intel 3945 wifi).

Kalyway 10.5.2 -> Kalyway combo update to 10.5.3 -> update to 10.5.4 with Apple update.

Used Vanilla 9.4.0 kernel, now tryin' modbin 9.4.0 kernel.

First of all, i want to tell why I've started a new topic.

The thing is that I've read MOSTLY ALL posts in post-installation discussion depending to shutdown/reboot/sleep thread and STILL I haven't found a working solution for F3Sv notebook.

Here are the ways i've been trying to get shutdown working:

1) Tried all kernels included in Kalyway 10.5.2 distributive (and also ToH 9.2.0 and modbin 9.4.0) - STILL NO SHUTDOWN

2) In some messages i've read that logging off before shutdown helped some users - STILL NO SHUTDOWN

3) Tried to use ovof's script (at first, installed the script without installing Xcode, then installed Xcode and reinstalled script). However, i coudn't find out if it disables one core before shutdown or not, but, if I understand everything correctly, that's the only function of this script, so i tried to boot up with cpus=1 flag which does the same thing - disables one core. I checked that with this flag only one core works in activity monitor - STILL NO SHUTDOWN

4) Tried to combine using different kerenels, logging off and disabling one core - STILL NO SHUTDOWN

5) I'm using D-Link DWA-110 wireless usb adapter (with USBWifiUtility) instead of non-working integrated intel 3945, in some posts users told that quiting from the USBWifiUtility helped them to shutdown. Also turning off bluetooth with the switcher on laptop. Tried all of this - STILL NO SHUTDOWN

In some posts it was told that the reason of not being able to shutdown correctly could be nvinject drivers and patched appleHDA (with i actually use - nvinject 0.2.1 and appleHDA that i found in the signature of the author of global asus f3 series thread (btw, LOTS OF THANKS to him!).

But I tried to shutdown on clean Kalyway 10.5.2 installation WITHOUT using any drivers included there at all - STILL NO SHUTDOWN

So the question is - IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO GET THE SHUTDOWN WORKING ON ASUS F3SV??? )))

I hope, the information i wrote above will be helpfull fore someone to get a working solution.

P.S. BTW my restart works on all cores with all options and drivers without any problem. It's rather slow - my screen goes off at first, everything hangs for about 30 seconds but after that it succesfully restarts. With shutdown - everything's the same, screen goes off (and HDD i think - I can hear a "clicking" sound when the screen is off, but no matter how long I wait - nothing happens!

P.P.S. One more very important question i think: What's the safest way for HARD shutsown - hanging with screen and HDD (but not sure for HDD) off and then pressing power button for 5 secs or restart and power off at bios loading?

THANKS TO EVERYONE IN THIS FORUM WHO HELPED ME TO GET A STABLE INSTALLATION ON MY ASUS F3SV HACKBOOK PRO! =)

Man, you're great! ;-)

use vanilla kernel 9.4,

install chud.pkg from XCode Developer Pack (http://developer.apple.com/tools/xcode/), restart. (you need an apple account)

than install shoutdown fix (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=76404), restart.

now shut down should work !

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 1 month later...

I've just found out that the problem may come of Intel ICHx fixed patch! The thing is that i've just been reinstalling hackintosh (i've broken my installation with apple update to 10.5.5 ))) ). I used iDeneb v.1.0 and forgot to install ICHx patch so when the installation finished and the system boot up i've got no dvd-writer and found out that the patch was not installed.

But I made another experiment with shutdown on such configuraion and.... OH GREAT SHUTDOWN WORKED PERFECTLY! %)

When I installed ICHx patch the problem came back - black screen on shtudown!

Maybe this information will be helpful to make a solution for the thread. ;-)

@max_clawfinger:

my shutdown did never work..... Try this kext. It solved my problems and I now have shutdown working 100%

Regards

THX! I'll try this as soon as i am at home ;-)

One question, did you try this on 10.5.5?

yes, it is working perfectly on my RETAIL installation + 10.5.5 update

After the kext installation, do not forget to repair the kexts permissions and do not forget to delete the Extension.mkext

Regards
