Is the anyone who actually successfully can change the mac address of the NIC?

(I am talking about the ethernet LAN card of course).

I know this topic has been discussed hundreds times before, and I know the 2 most common methods ...

method 1:

sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr [new MAC]

method 2:

a long scripting method.

None of them worked for me. I am using 10.5.4

Is there any other effective way?

Or is there any way to change it?

My internet connection comes with only one registered mac address, I am allowed to use it on my other computers - one at a time, legally.

My PC is already registered, so I need to use it on my notebook.
