domino
Thanks for the info tokra. The player and the encoder isn't universal but the plugin is. It works well on my install. Here is the info right before installing. =========== 1. Introduction Welcome to the DivX Player for Macintosh, Beta 2. Thank you all who provided us with your feedback and bug reports on Beta 1 o f the DivX Player for Macintosh! Many bugs have been fixed and suggestions implemented and even more will be taken care of in yet another future release. 2. Key Improvements There have been a substantial number of bug fixes and improvements in the player. The most notable are: 1. The DivX Decoder included with the DivX Player is now a Universal Binary allowing you to fully use the DivX Player on PowerPC or Intel Macintoshes. 2. The mechanism that performs fading out of the window during playback has been significantly improved resulting in quick and seamless fading with no slowdown of movie playback. 3. Desktop Dimmer now also fades the player window frame. 4. More options within the contextual menu (right-click or control-left on the player window contents) 5. Movies can now be dragged onto the icon of the DivX Player to open them. 6. Improved keyboard control -- one of the most requested features -- has been implemented. The following key controls have been added: Main keyboard: ESC - toggle between full-screen and windowed playback Number keypad: 7 - Skip backward by a large amount 4 - Skip backward by a medium amount 1 - Skip backward by a small amount 9 - Skip foreward by a large amount 6 - Skip foreward by a medium amount 3 - Skip foreward by a small amount 8 - Fast playback while held down 5 - Pause playback while held down 2 - Slow playback while held down 0 - Play/Pause current movie If the shift key is held down in addition with the above number controls keys the amount of skipping or rate of playback is multiplied by a factor of 10. 3. domino
I redownload the file and this time I got Beta 1 plus the player. According to the dev, The decode-only DivX codec provided with Beta 2 is now a full Universal Binary! Whoo-hoo! No worries about which type of chip you have in your Mac – just install the DivX Player, crank up your favorite vids and enjoy away! The player will crank through your clips with a sheer lust for video! It's obvious the dev or whoever gave the description is full of of sh :censored2: t. The player is slower than any player I have ever used. Don't think about using the "player" full screen either. Best to use the recompile MPlayer OS X 2 offered on this site. wesley
If the UniBin plug-in is invoked via a PPC app, would it work in PPC (i.e. Rosetta'ed) mode? DivX team is thinking that the plugin will still run in Intel mode, because they haven't made the DivX Coverter a UniBin yet, but thinks it'll crank out the performance expected from running Intel native. Same with DivX Player here. If that's the case, then the Player itself must be coded pretty bad in order to take such performance hit.
