OzSpeedway
I keep seeing a number of threads on installing with a P35-DS3(whatever) board but not many with EP35 boards. I was just wondering what the difference is as I cannot tell from the Gigabyte site. I mean, is there infact any glaring differences in say a P35-DS3R and a EP35-DS3R? I just do not want to make the same mistake as I made with an ASUS P5K board I bought, be it now or in the future.... Any help appreciated Cheers Bruce Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119283-gigabyte-ep35-vs-p35/ Share on other sites
Hagar
Off the top of my head, I believe the EP35 has more energy saving features, and possibly a 1600 fsb as opposed to 1333. What was wrong with your P5K? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119283-gigabyte-ep35-vs-p35/#findComment-844587 Share on other sites
3Dman
I think that GA-P35-DS4 is very good, all works and audio only needs patching. I'll buy it for a new PC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119283-gigabyte-ep35-vs-p35/#findComment-844588 Share on other sites

What was wrong with your P5K? Ah OK, thats useful to know - thanks. I bought a vanilla P5K - meaning a P5K nothing. For me it is a nightmare to get working in all aspects as it has different network and sound from the other P5Kxxxxx series boards. Stupid me assumed that because it was a P5K all would be rosy..... Don't get me wrong, a great board for someone who knows what they are doing or for Windows. As indicated in another thread I am going to try one last install with all the bits, pieces and knowledge I have gained over the past week to see if I can get a working, stable solution. If that doesn't work I am off to buy a (E)P35 based board.... I see, I'm in the opposite position, having done an install on an EP35-DS3 and awaiting the arrival of 3 P5K boards (I forget which variant) (I liked the EP35, btw, nice board, IMO) Time will tell whether I've landed myself in a world of hurt relative to marvell NICs & hopeless HD Audio codecs or not :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/119283-gigabyte-ep35-vs-p35/#findComment-844681 Share on other sites
